REHIS Southern Centre Event

Electrical Safety in Housing Assessments (Tolerable Standard) Training Course

Wednesday 21st May 2014

Carnegie Conference Centre, Halbeath Road, Dunfermline, KY11 8DY

And

Friday 23rd May 2014

Clyde Room, Clydebank Town Hall, Hall St, Clydebank, G81 1UB

Due to popular demand the Southern Centre is repeating this course first presented in October 2013. The object of the seminar is to provide delegates with the knowledge to assist in assessing electrical installations found in residential accommodation. It will follow the local authority guidance and flow charts provided to assist in the assessment of electrical safety aspects of the revised Tolerable Standard.

The day commences with a few basics on electrical safety to set a grounding of what is safe/unsafe. It then continues with photographs to take the delegate directly to different residential electrical installations to see common faults so they can be recognised in the future. The instruction starts at the incomer or electrical meter and progresses through the house as if on a normal walk-through used for other elements of the tolerable standards, looking at consumer units, visible wiring, switches, socket outlets, etc. We utilise photographs to highlight what looks acceptable and what is at risk of being unsafe or is simply unsafe. The trainer will indicate the severity of the risk.

This seminar does not make delegates into electricians but will enable them to identify problems and have a greater knowledge and confidence of an electrical installation assessment. In addition, you will be able to discuss current developments in the field, field questions to recognised industry experts. With a mixture of presentations and discussions, it is hoped that this will prove a valuable day for all who attend and qualifies REHIS members for up to 6 hours CPD (core activity).
