St. Mary Preschool
February Newsletter
January was full of fun at school. The children really enjoyed pretending to be animals and crawling into our “mitten” on the playground to act out the wonderful story by Jan Brett We will have some fun pretending to ice skate, ice fish and have been practicing getting dressed to go outdoors…it’s paying off.
Valentines Day is fast approaching and so is our party! Please watch for an e-mail to sign up to bring treats if you would like (all others will be considered take-home treats). If your child is capable of writing their own name, please encourage this if only on a few cards. For 3 year olds this is NOT age appropriate, and I caution you not to over-do the amount or length of time spent on this. Writing our names should be exciting, not a chore to grow to dread. To avoid confusion and to make all the children feel successful delivering their own Valentines during our party, please do not make Valentines out to specific children, we’ll put the focus on who it is from. There are 16 children in our class, and cards can be brought in for exchange the day of our party.
Winter Weather Policy:
If there is a late start, preschool will not run that day. If Eau Claire Schools close, there will be no classes that day since Regis Catholic Schools follow the EC School District. In the event that school closes early, listen to the TV and radio; the decision will be made before 11:00 on questionable days.
Thank you for sharing your children with us as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week and the reasons why it is important to us to be in a small school with a faith-filled community. Throughout the school we will celebrate with some fun and zany activities. Be sure to refer to your flyer to join in on the fun!

Children turning 4 by September 1, 2017 are eligible for Four Year Old Kindergarten. You should have received a packet in the mail from Altoona public school. We offer both morning and afternoon options here at St. Mary’s. If you would like to attend 4K in Altoona but live in another district you must open enroll. All 4K info is available at altoona.k12.wi.us under the 4 Year Old Kindergarten heading. I would be happy to answer what I can. J
