Showcase Community

Nomination Form

We are currently accepting nominations for the 2015 SHOWCASE COMMUNITY AWARD that will be presented at our celebration of National Community Development Week at the Capital in Lincoln. The date for the National Community Development Week Celebration will be announced in the spring.

The Showcase Community Award recognizes communities that have demonstrated, within the past five years, the exceptional ability to: (1) identify community development goals and strategies; (2) combine local, state, and federal resources to achieve those goals, and (3) accomplish major projects with positive impacts on the community. A major emphasis is put on a community’s access and use of Community Development Block Grant funds.

To nominate your community or another community, please complete the section below by providing detailed answers to Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. This should be no more than 3 pages. Submit supporting documentation, such as newspaper articles and photos; photos are recommended. Supporting documentation should 2 pages in length. The application, which includes this form, the section answers, and documentation, should be a total of 6 pages. Please submit five copies of the nomination document(s) if you are unable to send the required documentation via email.

PART 1: Describe how local leaders and residents have come together during the past 5 years to identify community development goals and build the necessary implementation strategies. (33 points)

PART 2: Briefly describe the local, state, and federal resources your community has mobilized to achieve your community development goals. (33 points)

PART 3: Describe your community’s most important accomplishments during the past 5 years and their positive impacts. (38 points)
