LOCATION:Lilongwe but with travel within Malawi

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This role reports to and supports the LSTM in Malawi Financial Accountant to ensure that robust management systems, processes and Standard Operating Procedures are followed across the LSTM Malawi office (financial, programme and office management).

Key Responsibilities:-

  1. Maintenance and update of project expenditure analysis reports summarised against budget.
  1. Ensure that workshop funds are liquidated on a timely basis and that all necessary expenditure returns are verified.
  1. Post financial data into the office’s financial software package (Quickbooks is the current provider).
  1. Perform key control account reconciliations including monthly bank reconciliations to an agreed reporting timetable.
  1. Maintain the petty cash imprest system.
  1. Ensure payments to suppliers are made in adherence to office policies and guidelines.
  1. Act as point of contact and resolver ofpurchase invoice related queries.
  1. Timely remittance of PAYE and other taxes.
  1. Respond to financial queries in relation to research project finances and donor funds.
  1. Responsible for the administration, filing and labelling of forms and vouchers processed and/or originated by the finance department in line with office policies and guidelines.
  1. Assist in project financial reporting and project budgetary monitoring and control by reporting to management on any significant variances.
  1. Provide assistance as required in respect of external and internal audit assignments.
  1. Carry out such other duties reasonably consistent with the foregoing as may be required.

Experience / Proven, extensive work experience in an NGO or related sector.
Experience of liaising with or working in an audit office would be beneficial to the role. / D
