The season is now officially over. We would like to thank you all for your continued participation in our leagues and hope you enjoy your summer. We will see you all again for the first meeting of the season on Tuesday 12th August 2014at 7.15pm in WynnsHotel. The committee will be taking a break from basketball now for a couple of months.

All league medals are available tonight. We have participation medals for U12(2) and U11s.

AFFILIATIONS FOR 2014-2015 SEASON

Affiliation forms for next season have already been sent out and are also available tonight. Whilst Senior leagues traditionally have a two up / two down rotation we do need to look at the Senior section to make the divisions more balanced. We also would remind our Senior teams that they can only compete in our leagues if they have a registered referee for each team in each division. There will be only one referees course this season - and the DOA have requested one Introductory/ Grade 3 Referees course to be held on either the 9/10th August or 16/17th August from the National Referees Committee. As soon as the NRC confirm which dates suits we will let you know. The course takes place over an entire weekend and participants must be prepared to give up an entire weekend to attend.

AGM

Tonight is our AGM. It officially marks the end of the season, and also presents an opportunity to change our Bye-laws to address issues that occurred during the season. The proposed changes are available tonight. We will vote on these later.

We will also be discussing how the season went, particularly in relation to the Minor leagues and the application of the Minor rules as laid down by Basketball Ireland.

MINOR UPDATES

UNDER 10 JAMBOREES

We would like to extend a huge “Thank You” to Shane Mullin and Natasha Moore from Dublin Lions who hosted our Under 10 Jamborees for us this year over in Clondalkin. There were three morning sessions in December, January and March, which were all well attended. The children enjoyed themselves immensely and learned a lot. We hope to run these Jamborees again next season.

UNDER 11 BLITZ

Once again we ran the U11s as a blitz event with both Northside and South side teams competing - this is a very successful format and can only be done with the goodwill and hard work of the hosting clubs - a big thank you to all the clubs that hosted for us this season: Firhouse, Killester, Malahide and Rangers - we cannot do it without you!

U13 LIFFEY CHALLENGE

The U13 Liffey Challenge took place on Sunday 13th April 2014 at the Carroll Hall, Greendale, Kilbarrack. Thank you to KUBS for hosting, in particular Orla Phillips for all her support. It was a terrific game with the Northsiders winning out in the end - both of these teams will also be representing Dublin at the BNI Tournament in UUJ in Belfast on 7th and 8th June. The Dublin 14 team are also travelling.
