Module Description

Participants will be introduced to the four blended learning models: rotation, flex, self-blend, and enriched virtual model. They will explore examples of each to see how they apply to the classroom they serve. Participants will explore Centra, for online synchronous learning, and Google Classroom for flipping the classroom as examples of blended learning tools.

Course Objectives

Participants will be able to:

·  Be familiar with a variety of blended learning models: face-to-face driver, online lab, flex, rotation, self-blend, and online driver.

·  Be able to join a live session via Centra.

·  Participate in an online event via Centra.

·  Be able to view a playback session via Centra.

·  Create and login to a Google Classroom account.

·  Participate in an online discussion via Google Classroom.

·  Participate in a question via Google Classroom.

·  Be able to seek out professional learning webinars and online courses independently.

·  Explore a variety of online formative assessment tools.

Part 1 (60 minutes)

·  Introduction (5 minutes)

o  Participant sign-in, discuss class objectives, address break schedule, address Impact Map, and address participation expectations.

·  Blended Learning Models (35 Minutes)

o  Share the infographics at the link below.

o  Discuss the various models of blended learning.

o  Allow time for participants to explore the topic in depth.

·  Blended Learning Examples (20 Minutes)

o  Participants will break into small groups to discuss the types of blended learning they see happening that their work location. Discuss which type of model that blended learning fits.

Part 2 (60 minutes)

·  Centra Live (30 Minutes)

o  Demonstrate the process for logging in to a live Centra session.

o  Lead a sample Centra session for participants to practice using tools such as hand, text chat, and whiteboard.

o  Demonstrate the process for logging in to a playback Centra session.

o  Allow time for participants to attend a playback session of their choice from the 2015-2016 Wednesday Webinar Series.

·  Google Account (30 Minutes)

o  Demonstrate first-time login to CCSD GAFE account.

o  Allow time for participants to login account.

o  Demonstrate the process for joining a Google Classroom.

o  Demonstrate how to respond to an Announcement in Google Classroom.

o  Demonstrate how to create an Announcement in Google Classroom

o  Demonstrate how to respond to a Question in Google Classroom.

o  Demonstrate how to respond to an Assignment in Google Classroom.

o  Demonstrate the process for requesting educator access to Google Classroom.

o  Allow time for participants to practice these skills.

o  Demonstrate how a typical class might use Google Classroom for blended learning.

o  Allow time for participants to discuss in small groups how this tool could apply to their workplace.

·  Google Classroom Tutorials (10 Minutes)

o  Demonstrate the location of the Google Classroom Help Tutorials

Part 4 (60 minutes)

·  Break (5 minutes)

·  Address Question from before break (5 minutes)

·  Formative Assessment Tools (20 Minutes)

o  Demonstrate several online formative assessment tools at the link below.

o  Allow time for participants to practice using these tools as a student to evaluate them for possible use in the classroom.
