Examples of suitable responses

1. Describe the special event you are preparing for

Football/Basketball/Netball

The special event I am preparing for is an Inter Class Football Competition. On the last week of the programme my team will play the other teams in the class in a league format. Each game will last for 30 minutes and a small trophy will be awarded to the winning team. The performance will be recorded so we can watch it back.

Trampolining

The special event I am preparing for is a Trampolining Competition. On the last week of the programme I will have two attempts to perform my sequence, both performances will be awarded a mark out of 10. My performance will be watched by the rest of the class and recorded so I can watch it back.

2. Describe one factor you have to consider when preparing for this event.

Football/ Basketball/ Netball

For my Football performance one factor I will need to consider is a physical factor. I will try to improve my CRE as each game I play will last 30 minutes. I need to ensure I can play the full game without becoming tired and my skill level remains high throughout.

Trampolining

In my trampolining performance I will need to consider the physical factors that will impact my performance. I will need to concentrate on the weak skills in my performance e.g. swivel hips to ensure my sequence links smoothly together to achieve the best possible score.

3. Select a different factor and describe how you considered this when preparing for your event.

Football/ Basketball/ Netball

A second factor I need to consider when preparing for my special event is the emotional factors. I need to ensure I manage my emotions effectively during my games. I need to ensure I stay clam and accept all decisions made by the referee, even ones that go against me.

Trampolining

A second factor I had to consider when preparing for my special event was the emotional factors. My sequence had a swivel hips in it which I could perform effectively in isolation but sometimes struggled when I had to combine skills before or after it, this made me become nervous about my special performance.

OR

I had to perform in front of an audience which I was nervous about, therefore I had to ensure I kept my anxiety levels under control to ensure I performed my sequence to the best of my ability and achieve the highest score.

4. Choosing one factor, describe what you did during the training sessions leading up to the event.

Football/ Netball/ Basketball

I trained three times a week focusing on improving my CRE. I used a variety of different methods to improve my CRE using Fartlek training (diagram) and also using a combined approach (diagram/description).

I always trained with my team to improve our ability to work effectively together as well as improving our ability to read each othersmoves.

Trampolining

I trained three times a week focusing on developing the skills in isolation and then combining them together in the sequence. I spent a lot of time working on individual skills and in particular my weakest skill. I started to build up my sequence by first linking 3 skills, then 4 etc…

5. Preparation leading up to the event, morning of.

Football/ Netball/ Basketball

The hour prior to our performance my team mates and I met together to warm up. First we did some light jogging etc… we then did a variety of different dynamic stretching exercises before starting to do some drills with the football to get us in the right frame of mind. The captain of the team was decided and he gave a motivational talk to get us ready for the competition to allow us to perform to our best ability.

Trampolining

Prior to my performance I warmed up by doing some light jogging before running through my stretching routine. I then had a warm-up on the trampoline, running through my routine. Prior to my performance I sat on my own and visualised me performing the sequence. This helped to calm me down and block out the audience
