One nomination form per nominee with complete information including agreement and certification below.

Nominee’s resume or bio describing his or her background and contributions.

Narrative supporting the nomination criteria and other pertinent details in 12-point font, up to 300 words.

OPTIONAL: Up to three letters of support from individuals or organizations or other written materials that support the nomination.

The Nomination Form and other documents should be submitted via e-mail in one single message as a PDF attachment. Please indicate “HNBA Awards” in the subject line of the email. Any application received after the June 15th deadline will not be included for consideration by the HNBA.

NOTE: Both the nominee(except for the Judges, Law Student Organization and Corporate Partner awards) and the nominator must be paid members of the HNBA in good standing.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS CRITERIA

The following criteria apply to the nominees of the specific awards.

Lifetime Achievement Award

At least 25 years of significant contributions to the Hispanic community and legal profession.

Proven history of creating change and/or demonstrating impact benefiting the Hispanic community at the local, state,or national level.

Demonstrated leadership in the Hispanic community.

Record of recognition by peers for legal projects orprofessional achievements, such as business or non-profit affiliations.

Record of recognition by other awards, honors, achievements, or publications that support this nomination.

Latino and Latina Judge of the Year Award

Nominee is a Judge at the federal, state or local level, including administrative law judges.

Demonstrated commitment to improving the administration of justice.

Significant contributions to the Hispanic community.

Proven positive local or national impact on the justice system.

Latino and Latina Attorney of the Year Award

Exhibits the following attributes: (1) professionalism and civility; (2) character and integrity; (3) demonstrated legal acumen; (4) vision and leadership; and (5) service to the legal profession.

Significant contributions to improving the quality of the legal profession or the administration of justice.

Significant contributions to the Hispanic community.

Significant service within the HNBA, including leadership roles and involvement in programs for HNBA members.

Regional President of the Year Award

Commitment to the mission of HNBA that has brought honor and recognition to the HNBA.

Demonstrated commitment to the HNBA through pro bono, community service or other HNBA activities.

Assisted the HNBA to develop sponsor relationships, achieve financial or other resource savings, improved service to members, and community outreach.

Advanced the goals set forth in the HNBA’s Strategic Plans and/or priorities set by the HNBA National President and/or HNBA Board of Governors.

Established record of leadership on the HNBA Board of Governors including mentoring other Regional Presidents or Board members.

Actively involved in identifying and helping to vet qualified candidates for positions in the judiciary and executive branch.

Actively participates in monthly HNBA phone conferences and HNBA Board of Governor meetings.

Deputy Regional President of the Year Award

Commitment to the mission of HNBA that has brought honor and recognition to the HNBA.

In his or her role as Deputy Regional President, advanced the goals and/or priorities set by the HNBA National President and/or HNBA Board of Governors and/or assisted the HNBA in developing sponsor relationships, achieving financial or other resource savings, improving service to members, increasing membership numbers, executing HNBA Programs at a regional or local level, and/orincreasing or improving community outreach efforts.

Actively participates in monthly HNBA telephone conferences and other required meetings.

Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award

Demonstrated, long-standing dedication to the development and delivery of pro bono legal services to the Hispanic community.

Significant contribution to developing innovative approaches for the delivery of pro bono legal services.

Participated in activities that extend pro bono legal services to underserved and/or disadvantaged communities.

Successfully handled pro bono matters affecting the provision of other services to underserved and/or disadvantaged.

Participated in efforts that contributed to the accessibility of legal services to the poor and disadvantaged.
