Slide 3 - Oracle Sales Cloud Release 12

Slide notes

Hello, my name is Jim. Welcome to training for Release 12.

In this session we will talk about what’s coming in Oracle Incentive Compensation Cloud for Transactional Business Intelligence.

Notes

Slide 4 - Agenda

Slide notes

For the enhancements covered in this training, we’ll give an overview, followed by more detail to explain how you can use them, and what business value they bring.

Then we’ll walk you through a demonstration.

Next we’ll explain what you need to consider before enabling these features in your business, and what you need to know to set them up.

Notes

Slide 5 - Enhancements Overview

Slide notes

Incentive Compensation has developed a new performance and earnings subject area for release 12. The new subject area eases the creation of performance reporting by eliminating the need for common cross subject area joins.

I can also upload new rich text formatted (RTF) templates for use in Incentive Compensation’s plan document approval process. Providing customers more formatting flexibility when creating compensation plan documents.

Notes

Slide 6 - Performance and Earnings Summary Subject Area

Slide notes

Along with the redesign of some of the existing common dimensions, a new subject area is provided to primarily focus on the performance of the participant. The “Performance and Earnings Summary Subject Area” brings together commonly used performance attributes and metrics into one intuitive grouping.

Notes

Slide 7 - Performance and Earnings Summary Subject Area

Slide notes

This new subject area consolidates multiple, existing, Incentive Compensation subject areas to make reporting more intuitive. The new design combines existing performance related subject areas bringing a participant’s details, plan targets, and performance goals together with their attainment and earnings.

Having a single subject area eliminates the need for performance robbing joins while still providing the granular data level that you need.

Notes

Slide 8 - Plan Document Templates

Slide notes

What does it do?

I can…

1. Create layout templates that represent the various plans that I have modeled

2. Assign them to various compensation plans

3. Generate the plan documents initiating the Plan Approval Workflow

Notes

Slide 9 - Plan Document Templates

Slide notes

Users can now create custom Business intelligence Publisher (BIP) layout templates to meet their varying plan document publishing requirements.

The structure of a sales representative’s plan is typically different from that of their sales manager or any other participant. There are often different legal requirements globally which would require the inclusion or exclusion of plan content.

The assignment of different layouts to different plans allows the customer to tailor the content to the intended audience, increasing their publishing flexibility and ability to communicate the plan to the participant.

Notes

Slide 15 - Summary of Enhancement Capabilities

Slide notes

Here is the summary of the features I have talked about today.

The new performance and earnings summary subject area which allows for increased performance and simplified development

The flexibility of layout templates to tailor the compensation plan document content used in the participant plan acceptance workflow at the plan level

Notes

Slide 16 - Additional Information

Slide notes

The performance and earnings summary subject area cannot be joined to any existing incentive compensation subject areas. New dimensions created for this subject area replace some of the common dimensions used to make joins to existing subject areas.

Only users with BI Publisher Developer Role or the BI Publisher Template Designer Role can edit the Plan Document Template or create new templates.

Slide 17 - Implementation Advice

Slide notes

In this implementation advice section we will go through what you need to consider before enabling these features in your business, and what you need to know to set them up.

Notes

Slide 18 - Feature Impact Guidelines

Slide notes

This table depicts key upgrade information for the new features covered in this training.

All of the features covered in this training are automatically available after upgrade.

Although, both features have setup options associated with them – setup specifics are covered later in this section.

All features can be accessed through existing shipped job roles.

Notes

Slide 19 - Implementation Decision Points

Slide notes

To support existing customers, with reports based on legacy subject areas, the profile option “CN_HIDE_OTBI_SUBJECT_AREAS “ has been created. This profile option allows implementers to specify whether or not to include legacy Incentive Compensation business intelligence subject areas supplanted by the new Performance and Earnings Summary Real Time Subject Area.

By default, this profile option is set to “No” and all Incentive Compensation subject areas are included.

It is important that new customers use the setup task “Manage Incentive Compensation Profile Options” set the profile option to “Yes” in order to hide the subject areas replaced by the Performance and Earnings Summary Real Time Subject Areas.

Notes

Slide 20 - Setup Summary

Slide notes

The setup for ‘Performance and Earnings Summary Subject Area’ is achieved by using the ‘Manage Incentive Compensation Profile Options’ set up task to set the ‘CN_HIDE_OTBI_SUBJECT_AREAS’ profile option to specify whether or not to include legacy Incentive Compensation business intelligence subject areas

The setup for “Compensation Plan Document Templates” is achieved by using the ‘Manage Parameters’ set up task to select the ‘Default Plan Document Template’ from the ‘Plan Approval Parameters’ section.

Notes

Slide 21 - Performance and Earnings Summary Subject Area Setup Detail

Slide notes

From the “Setup and Maintenance” workarea, use the “Manage Incentive Compensation Profile Options” Task to search for the profile option code ‘CN_HIDE_OTBI_SUBJECT_AREAS’.

Select the profile option code from the search results and set its profile value.

The profile option is added to support customers currently using legacy subject areas. New customers should choose ‘Yes’ for the profile value to prevent new report development based upon legacy subject areas.

Notes

Slide 22 - Compensation Plan Document Templates Setup Detail

Slide notes

From the Setup and Maintenance workarea, use the Manage Parameters Task to enable the ‘Plan Approval and Workflow’ and select a ‘Default Plan Document Template’

Notes

Slide 23 - Setup Best Practices

Slide notes

A best practice for new customers is to set the ‘CN_HIDE_OTBI_SUBJECT_AREAS’ profile option to ‘Yes’.

All customers using plan approval and acceptance must choose a default template to use during plan document generation.
