A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Bill Glaser.
WHEREAS, Bill Glaser graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1961; he received his B. A. in Education (English and mathematics) from Bellarmine College in 1965; he received an N. S. F. Mathematics Grant at East Tennessee State University from 1970-1971; and he earned his M. A. degree in Secondary Education at Morehead State University from 1976-1977; and
WHEREAS, Bill Glaser began his successful career teaching mathematics and English at St. Xavier High School, where he was assistant football coach and head baseball coach from 1965-1973; he was head football coach from 1974-1975, while coaching St. Xavier to back-to-back state titles; he was a mathematics instructor and defensive coordinator for the linebackers at Morehead State University from 1975-1976; he was an assistant football coach for 20 years at the University of Kentucky, under the auspices of coaches Fran Curci, Jerry Claiborne, and Bill Curry; he was a mathematics teacher and assistant football coach at Tates Creek High School from 1997-1998; he initiated the Summer Study-Skills program and was assistant coach and mathematics teacher at Lexington Catholic High School from 1998-2000; he was named Interim President of Lexington Catholic High School in 2000; and he has held the position of President since 2001; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as President of Lexington Catholic High School, Bill Glaser is credited with acquiring laptop computers for every teacher in the school and helping equip classrooms with LCD projectors, SMART Boards, and computers; the school has also hired more guidance counselors and a student advocate to help students with personal issues; additional prayer services and Masses during the school year have improved campus ministry; and teachers' salaries have kept pace with cost-of-living increases, while tuition has been less than inflation rates; and
WHEREAS, Bill Glaser's genius as a football coach and his superior level of achievement have resulted in his being named the recipient of the Courier-Journal Football Coach-of-the-Year award in 1975; he was named KHSAA Coaches Association Coach-of-the-Year award and inducted into the St. Xavier High School Hall of Fame in 1976; and he was inducted into the Greater Louisville Coaches Association "Legends" Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, through the years, Bill Glaser has won the respect and admiration of, and contributed to the development of, many outstanding and responsible young athletes and students; and
WHEREAS, Bill Glaser will step down as president of Lexington Catholic High School in June 2005;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby congratulate and applaud Bill Glaser for his many academic and athletic achievements during his impressive career, and we wish to him continued success in all future endeavors.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Bill Glaser.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Bill Glaser, President, Lexington Catholic High School, 2250 Clays Mill Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40503.
