GRANT

BRIEF HISTORY:

The Beacon Charm Fund Grant was established in 1987, with a contribution from Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eleuthère Irénée duPont in memory of their three-day event horse, Beacon Charm. This fund was created to provide direct financial assistance to aspiring three-day event riders, in financial need, with successful competitive records who have the potential to be successful in international three-day events. The goal of the Fund is to provide for riders with limited financial resources, the financial support they require to prepare for, and compete in, international three-day events. Assistance is considered for coaching, specialized training, entry fees, living costs for horse and rider, and/or travel. The monies available for these Grants are made from the earnings of the capital of the Fund.

PROGRAM OUTLINE:

The 2005 Beacon Charm Fund Grant is designed to assist riders that require financial assistance in order to pursue their goal of training for and competing in an international three-day event.

We welcome all applications that are submitted as long as they adhere to the following guidelines.

4.  A letter of recommendation is necessary to complete the application. This recommendation must be from your coach or someone who is familiar with your riding career. The letter should address your competitive potential, pursuit of competitive goals, and the individual’s relationship with the person writing the letter. These letters must accompany your application. No letters will be accepted individually from the writer.

5.  Please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope. A letter of reply regarding the status of your application will be sent to you in this envelope as soon as your completed application is evaluated by the Beacon Charm Fund Grant Committee.
