Personal Biographies of Presenters:
Darcy Thompson – Resource Specialist Bidwell School
An educator for 25 years with an emphasis and background in special education. Past educational opportunities include providing adapted physical education services to students in Tehama County, teaching in special day class settings working with students with mild to moderate disabilities, and working in a full-inclusion first grade setting. Currently working in a resource specialist position in a Learning Center model serving 65 students who show the most promise! Educational degrees include, BA in Physical Education with an Emphasis in Adapted, and a Masters Degree in Special Education. Credentials include Multiple Subjects credential, Mild to Moderate Credential and a Resource Specialist Certification.
Currently living in Redding California with my husband of 24 years and visiting our daughter in college in Monterey as often as possible.
Connie Holland – Literacy Specialist Bidwell School
A northern California educator for 15 years with a background in reading instruction. Educational degrees include a Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Education Administration. Additionally a multiple subject’s credential and a single subject credential in Health. Past educational experiences include teaching a variety of grade levels in k-12 and working for the past ten years as the Literacy Specialist in Bidwell Schools Learning Center.
Currently living in Red Bluff California with my husband and six year old daughter.
Isaac Scharaga – Principal Bidwell School
Mr. Scharaga received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Science and Education (Curriculum and Development) from Southern Oregon State College. He has been the principal at Bidwell Elementary School since 2001. As a student that struggled with reading himself he has been instrumental in the design and development of the Learning Center at Bidwell.
Currently living in Red Bluff with his wife, son and a daughter sailing off to college.
