PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To provide direct assessment to NVQ candidates as directed by SCSAC.
  • To assist in the promotion, development and monitoring of NVQ within the organisations working with as an assessor.
  • To comply with QCA and Awarding Body processes and procedure in relation to NVQ Assessment and Verification as implemented by SCSAC.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Work within the policies of Sheffield City Council, Children & Young People’s Directorate.

2.To attend and contribute to the standardisation of NVQ assessment for Children’s Specialist Services.

3.Undertake Assessment for ‘Children’s Specialist Services’NVQ Assessment Team.

4.Provide assessment to a number of Children’s Specialist Services, LDD, MAST and Fieldwork & Family Placement candidates to achieve NVQ unit completions and full awards.

5.To undertake assessment in a range of dispersed settings, e.g. clients homes, private residential units, social service settings.

6.To be able to work flexibly with organisations in order to be able to achieve candidate outcomes.

7.To offer appropriate levels of support/contact with candidates in line with service delivery.

8.Contribute to the evaluation of targets and outcomes.

9.Monitor targets and produce regular reports on outcomes for Children’s Specialist Services for the NVQ Co-ordinator.

10.To work within Assessment Centre processes using approved Centre materials at all times.

11.Assist in the Promotion of NVQ process within the Children’s Specialist Services.

12.To comply with QCA NVQ Code of Practice and Awarding Body standards of assessment and verification.

13.To liaise regularly with the Assessment Centre via the Children’s Specialist Service NVQ Co-ordinator, and with the named contacts within the organisations working with, in order to update on progress of candidates, and any issues or barriers to NVQ achievement.

14.To attend any NVQ updates, as required. To ensure that your Continuous Professional Development record is maintained.

15.To work with any Centre developments in relation to new NVQ assessment practices.

16.Any other duties appropriate to the job.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Post Title: NVQ ASSESSOR

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS / METHOD OF ASSESSMENT
QUALFICATION
To hold A1 or D32/33 Assessor Award.
Professional Qualification: e.g. Health & Social Care level 3 or 4 – Children’s Award or equivalent child care qualification.
Extensive experience of working in relevant service area. / Application form
