PERSON SPECIFICATION

  1. To actively contribute towards the maintenance of a positive culture within all Fair Ways services and the ability to engage with young people, staff and members of the public, in which teamwork thrives. Guarding against transference of negative views, being solution focused, and promoting positive attitude.
  2. Counselling qualifications level 2 or 3 / childcare related qualification level 3 and/or to be able to demonstrate the relevant experience
  3. To be highly organised, methodical and able to prioritise, set deadlines and keep to them.
  4. To be able to recognise the effects of stress on self and others
  5. Ability to time manage own workload effectively and work as part of a team, promoting a positive culture.
  6. Have a flexible approach to the task and resilience under pressure.
  7. Demonstrate effective communication skills, verbal , non-verbal and written
  8. Be reliable, enthusiastic, creative and honest
  9. To be able to engage challenging young people within an education setting delivering a good quality of learning

RESPONSABILITIES OF THE POST

  1. Each daysupport the inclusion of all pupils in theschooldelivering a pastoral programme enabling them to access education and a structured timetable of both vocational and classroom based learning.
  1. Co-ordinateattendance issues and provide problem solutions to provide individual support to students, including Positive Listening and Learning conversations and contribute to Behaviour management plans for individual pupils.
  1. Monitor and report on the implementation of pastoral support plans/interventions for pupils and contribute to the review of these plans.
  1. Work with pupils on an individual and group basis to contribute to more effective learning through improved behaviour and social skills including SEAL interventions.
  1. To assist the Pastoral Manager and/or the School Deputy’s in developing resources to meet identified needs of the pupils around behaviour and therapeutic support (including chill out chats).
  1. Co-ordinate and assist and support all crisis situations involving pupils displaying challenging behaviours.
  1. Co-ordinate behaviour plans and risk assessments for all pupils and to assist staff in the importance of reporting, recording, monitoring and evaluating all serious incidents and the legal justification of using physical interventions as last resort.
  1. Operate the reward and sanctions system within the school andalso develop individual strategies for the pupils.
  1. To work with identified pupils as an alternative to exclusion and/or to prevent exclusion.
  1. Liaise and meet with parents, carers and homes to report pupil’s progress and support them with any educational difficulties.
  1. To write a report if required for any student you have supported, by the required deadline and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers and external professionals.
  1. Work closely with other education providers, colleges and further education provions, and oversee their education and inclusion plans.
