Graduate Assistant Intern

Position Title: Club Sports Graduate Assistant Intern

Position Specific Duties: Assist with the coordination and implementation of marketing, recruitment and risk management of club sports. Travel to surrounding high schools, lacrosse tournaments and represent the department interacting with coaches, school representatives, parents, and players. Oversee and manage women’s club lacrosse practices. Assist with the development and management of monthly club officer meetings.

General Duties: The position will assume a leadership and supervisory role with

undergraduate staff and will have responsibilities specific to the organization and operations of Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The Club Sports Graduate Assistant Intern will assist with the development of Student Staff orientations, create and lead in-services for Academic Interns and hourly staff, support and create staff incentive programs and assist with the development and execution of student evaluations. Represent the department at various campus wide events and participate in the creation of departmental marketing mediums. Provide facility tours to outside groups. Assist with department special events including Family Day, Take Your Child to Work Day and Sibs Weekend. Candidates must also adhere to daily office hours, maintain a minimum of one evening facility shift, participate in weekend on-call rotation, act as an executive member of SRAC, assist with front office as needed, and other duties as assigned. Participates in campus events and committees; disseminates information to promote the Department of Campus Recreation.

Preferred Qualifications: Possess a thorough knowledge of women’s lacrosse rules and skills. Has played for a minimum of three years preferably at the collegiate club or NCAA level. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize and coordinate simultaneous projects effectively and work as a team player.

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must apply for an academic program or be a current Youngstown State Graduate student for interview consideration; must be accepted into program before graduate assistantship offer can be made by Campus Recreation; must maintain good standing within his/her program, maintain a minimum of 9 credit hours of coursework, must be or willing to be certified in CPR/First Aid, possess prior Campus Recreation or related experience.
