Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree required (Masters preferred);
  • 7-10 years of professional experiencein fundraising in the nonprofit sector, preferably in education and/or early education;
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in causes critical to the organizational mission (early education, academic achievement, social services to children and families and/or child care)
  • Experience in communications, public relations and constituent relations;Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in planning and managing development activities at a senior level;
  • Demonstrated communication skills with ability to produce high quality written communications, and
  • Pass a pre-employment and/or periodic physical examinations.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Strong fundraising and development skills with a focus on early childhood education;
  • Top notch project management skills;
  • Experience in developing meaningful relationships with donors, community partners and seeking out new opportunities;
  • Experience in North Texas including Tarrant County;
  • Ability to navigate complex donor environments with judgment, sound strategic thinking and tactical skill;
  • Superb interpersonal skills including the ability to generate trust and respect from colleagues and external constituents,
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint; demonstrated experience and proficiency using fundraising software and databases along with the ability to soundly analyze pros and cons of various software options.

Responsibilities:

As a member of CCA’s executive leadership team, the Director of Advancement will advance the organization’s mission to assist family successes through excellence in comprehensive early learning and development services. This position reports directly to the President/CEO and will work closely with the CEO, CFO and the Board of Directors to advance the cause of Child Care Associates in the community. This position currently has one staff person reporting and will work to build out the Advancement team over time.

Additionally, the Director of Advancement will be responsible for the design, launch and implementation of a comprehensive fund development plan that supports CCA’s mission of delivering quality child care and education.Support cross-organizational strategic planning to leverage resources to establish and implement the infrastructure needed to grow.

DEVELOPMENT:50%

  • Design the launch of a development function for the organization from the ground up including selecting developmentdatabase and software, coaching key personnel and building competencies across the Board and management team related to development;
  • Create an annual fundraising plan for the organization;
  • Implement a comprehensive development strategy that includes public grants, corporate funding, philanthropic grants, individual donors and event-based fundraising;
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with leadership-level funders, donors and persons of influence in the community;
  • Develop funding proposals with key program and management staff;
  • With program and fiscal team, develop a plan to meet non-federal share requirements in key grants;
  • Foster an understanding of philanthropy and development across the organization;
  • Support and partner with the CEO & Board of Directors on fundraising activities;
  • Write and archive all proposals with long-term relationship-management approach;
  • Select and deploy fundraising software/tools;
  • Identify, develop, and mentor the development team;
  • Help position CCA ahead of major funding changes or trends;
  • Monitor and cultivate quality relationships and collaborations with all donors and prospects;
  • Communicate and train staff on fundraising goals and progress throughout CCA;
  • Remain up to date on current early childhood development, trends, and opportunities as well as disseminate best practices to CCA leadership and staff, and
  • Other duties as assigned

COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC RELATIONS:50%

  • Develop and implementan annual communications plan across the organization;
  • Write, design, publish and distribute an annual report and materials that capture the performance of the organization;
  • Work with the Board of Directors on key priorities including in 2018-19 the organization’s 50th anniversary;
  • Report to key constituencies on projects, partnerships and progress towards metrics;
  • Establish an external communications plan to create awareness within the community of CCA’s mission and values;Work with external PR contractor and internal staff to meet the communication needs of the organization; Prepare 2-3 story and press release ideas per month to collaborate with outside contractor to promote CCA in the community;
  • Create and implement a social media plan using existing staff;
  • Work with program to advance and strengthen communications with parents and constituencies; Design mechanisms to capture and represent parent voice;
  • Serve as a CCA representative to the Early Learning Alliance and other collaborative when a communications and policy voice is needed;
  • Work with program areas on key annual communications for quality assurance of content, values and professionalism;
  • Review and improve the look and feel of communications materials for consistency with organizational mission and values, and
  • Other duties as assigned.

After completing one (1) year of service, the company contributes 4% of the employee’s earnings to the 403(b) retirement plan. If the employee also elects to make a contribution to the plan, Child Care Associates will match half (50%) of the employee’s contribution up to 2% of base salary.
