HONOURS AND AWARDS CRITERIA

WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED

Rising Stars
Awarded to young people who have been recognised as potential stars of the future.

Local Heroes
Awarded to members who work tirelessly on Guild business in their local area or chosen field,

and often go unnoticed.

National Hero
Awarded to a member who has worked tirelessly over a long period of time to promote the Guild,

and the Guild’s ethics.

Diploma for Support

Awarded to non members for their continued support and assistance in the promotion of the

aims and objectives of the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Diploma

Awarded to members for their continued endeavours in promoting the aims of the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Diploma for 50 years Membership
Awarded to members for their outstanding and continued membership and support of

the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Bronze Medal

Awarded to a member who is actively involved in the work of the Craft Guild of Chefs,

nationally or locally.

Silver Medal

Awarded to any member in an organising capacity and for the furtherance of the aims of the

Craft Guild of Chefs.

Gold Medal

Awarded for long and outstanding service to the Craft Guild of Chefs. The nominee must have held an organising position on any of the Craft Guild’s committees (minimum 10 years membership).

Fellow
The grade Fellow is on the recommendation for suitably qualified members of good standing who have been proposed and seconded by two Fellows of the Guild and have not less than five years continuous membership of the Guild. The appointment is made on merit.

Governor

A governorship is awarded to Fellows with at least 20 years of Craft Guild membership, who have given outstanding service to theGuild, or held a principal, divisional or national office, or have served on the Committee of Management, rendering distinguished service in so doing.

Honorary Membership

Honorary Membership is for persons who have rendered outstanding service to the Craft Guild of Chefs.

College Certificate

Awarded to a college outside of the Greater London area for commitment demonstrated in furthering the aims and objectives of the Craft Guild of Chefs and excellence within catering education.

Company Award

Presented to Business Partners who have shown significant support and involvement with the

Craft Guild of Chefs over the past year.

Chairman’s Shield

Awarded to a College/Catering Establishment, which has demonstrated the most outstanding student results during 2016. This award is nominated by the Chairman of the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Chairman’s Award

Awarded to any member or individual nationally who has given extraordinary service to the Craft Guild of Chefs. Nominated by the Chairman of the Craft Guild of Chefs.

President’s Trophy

Awarded to any establishment for outstanding Food and Service.

This establishment will be visited by a Vice Presidents’ Council member.

Order of Merit

The highest award given by the Vice Presidents’ Council for meritorious and outstanding service in furthering the aims and objectives of the Craft Guild of Chefs over a long period (minimum 20 years). Awarded only in exceptional circumstances.

Vice President

Awarded to a member who has displayed exceptional dedication to the Craft Guild of Chefs. Nominees for election to vice president will be accepted by the Vice Presidents’ Council.

Special Achievement Award

Awarded by the Vice Presidents’ Council in recognition of achievements made in promoting the aims and objectives of the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Frequency of Awards

Honours and Awards are made annually for the previous year. The Honours and Awards Committee will issue a memorandum to all members and members of the Committee of Management requesting nominations for consideration. This will be published in the Stockpot Magazine.

Awards should normally be progressive in the order Bronze, Silver, Gold, Governor, etc. Special Awards maybe awarded at the discretion of the Vice Presidents Council.

Presentation of Awards

All awards will be announced by the Chairman of the Vice Presidents’ Council and presented by the President, and Chairman at the AGM and will be announced with the winners’ employment address and edited citation.
