into the church:

All respond:DeoGratias

The Exsultet, to the the oldest known chant,

is sung in the light from the Paschal candle.

Liturgy of the word

Psalm responses after the readings:

1. Send forth your spirit O Lord and

renew the face of the earth.

2. I will sing to the Lord, glorious his triumph.

3. With joy we shall draw water from

the wells of salvation

The Gloria is intoned:

the bells are rung and the organ introduces:

GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO (Peter Jones)

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you,
we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

After the final reading, follow the cantors for the Easter Alleluias, sung three times.

The Psalm response is:

Alleluia

The Litany of Saints is now sung:

please follow the Missalette.

After the blessing of the water, repeat after the choir:Springs of water, bless the Lord;

Praise and exalt him above allfor ever.

During the sprinkling of the holy water, the choir sing the VidiAquam:I saw water flowing from the Temple, from its right hand side, alleluia; and all to whom this water came were saved and shall say: Alleluia.

All sing the Offertory Hymn:

At the Lamb’s high feast we sing

praise to our victorious king,

who hath washed us in the tide

flowing from his piercèd side.

Praise we him whose love divine

gives the guests his blood for wine,

gives his body for the feast,

love the victim, love the priest.

Where the paschal blood is poured,

Death’s dark angel sheathes his sword;

Israel’s hosts triumphant go

through the wave that drowns the foe.

Christ the Lamb, whose blood was shed.

Paschal victim, paschal bread;

with sincerity and love

eat we manna from above.

Mighty victim from the sky,

powers of hell beneath thee lie;

death is conquered in the fight;

thou hast brought us life and light,

now thy banner thou dost wave;

vanquished Satan and the grave;

angels join his praise to tell –

seeo’erthrown the prince of hell.

Paschal triumph, paschal joy,

only sin can this destroy;

from the death of sin set free

souls re-born, dear Lord, in thee.

Hymns of glory, songs of praise,

Father, unto thee we raise.

Risen Lord, all praise to thee,

ever with the Spirit be.

Eucharistic acclamations (Mass of Creation – Haugen)

Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory,

Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

Agnus Dei: (Paul Inwood)

Jesus Lamb of God, have mercy on us

Jesus Lamb of God, have mercy on us

Jesus Lamb of God, have mercy on us

Jesus Lamb of God, have mercy on us

Jesus, King of Kings, Jesus, Lord of all

Jesus, Lamb of God, give us your peace

Jesus, Lamb of God, give us your peace

Distribution of Holy Communion: please remain seated until ministers of communion have arrived at their stations.

During communion, the choir sing:

Regina Caeli(Aichinger)

Then all sing:

Now the green blade riseth

from the buried grain,

Wheat that in dark earth

many days has lain;

Love lives again, that with the dead has been:

Love is come again,

like wheat that springeth green.

In the grave they laid him,

Love whom men had slain,

Thinking that never he would wake again,

Laid in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen:

Love is come again,

like wheat that springeth green.

Forth he came at Easter, like the risen grain,

He that for three days in the grave had lain,

Quick from the dead, my risen Lord is seen:

Love is come again,

like wheat that springeth green.

When our hearts are wintry,

grieving, or in pain,

Thy touch can call us back to life again,

Fields of our hearts,

that dead and bare have been:

Love is come again,

like wheat that springeth green.

Blessing and Easter Alleluia followed

by the final hymn sung by all:

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son,

Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won;

Angels in bright raiment

rolled the stone away,

kept the folded grave-clothes

where thy body lay.

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son,

Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won;

Lo, Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;

Lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom;

Let the Church with gladness

hymns of triumph sing,

For her Lord now liveth,

death hath lost its sting.

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son,

Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won;

No more we doubt thee,

glorious Prince of Life;

Life is nought without thee: aid us in our strife,

Make us more than conquerors

through thy deathless love;

Bring us safe through Jordan

to thy home above:

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son,

Endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won;
