Enrichment Grant Guidelines

BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION

The Bethel School District Foundation mission is to promote opportunities and educational excellence for students and staff, to identify projects that encourage, receive, and manage endowments; and to advance educational opportunities for students by providing resources that are an integral part of a school.

Application Information:

  • Any BSD staff member (Certificated & Classified) may submit a proposal.
  • Typewritten proposals are required. Please, do not submit handwritten applications.
  • Applications must be clear, concise, and free of educational jargon.
  • Submission deadline is November 24th. Plan accordingly if you will be using district mail delivery. Late applications will not be accepted.
  • Applications can be hand delivered to Ann Varkados, Curriculum & Instruction at ESC, 516 E. 176th, Spanaway, WA 98387 until 4:00 pm onNovember 24th.
  • Three (3) copies of each proposal are required.
  • There is a $300.00 maximum dollar amount for funds requested. Detailed justification for funds is required however. The annual total budget for enrichment grants is determined by board approval and is based on funds available.
  • Schools may receive more than one grant award. However, only one award per staff member is allowed.
  • Applications are coded and names removed to ensure fairness in judging.

The grant review committee is made up of community members who serve on

the Foundation Board of Directors.

  • Awards will be announced December 10th. Notification will be sent to ALL applicants.
  • Feedback on proposals that are not funded will be provided upon request.

OVER 

Proposal Requirements:

  • Projects must be beyond the financial capabilities of the district and building
  • Projects and materials must meet BSD curriculum standards and be approved for use

by the school board

  • Resource materials must demonstrate a strong tie to the project and identified by title
  • Outside resource personnel must be identified by name. Resume recommended.

High Funding Priorities:

  • Creative and innovative project
  • Impacts a significant number of students or more than one school
  • Active student involvement
  • Resource materials are reusable
  • High ratio of number of students per dollar investment
  • Leverage of additional resources within the school or community
  • Strengthens the relationship between school and community
  • Promotes racial and/or cultural understanding

Restrictions (not fundable):

  • Capital improvement costs
  • Funding or extending a staff position
  • Books, materials and/or software that are not school board approved curriculum
  • Food items
  • Basic materials normally purchased with district funds

A visual presentation of the project, if funded, may be required for the annual BSD Foundation event.
