Dear Parent or Guardian,

I am delighted to have the opportunity to teach your child Computer Architecture here at Safford Magnet Middle School during the 2007-2008 school year. Welcome to you both! As you will soon discover, Safford is an excellent school that provides a challenging curriculum within a high-tech environment. I encourage you to follow our class developments on the Internet, using the address: http://edweb.tusd.k12.az.us/sandre/computers/index.htm . If you have a copy of your child’s class schedule, you may also check you child’s grades on this site: http://edweb.tusd.k12.az.us/sandre/ .

My e-mail address is .

My primary goals for my students are twofold. First, I will expect them to develop a basic understanding of computers, their proper care, and appropriate usage. Secondly, my students will learn about all major internal components of a basic personal computer. This will be achieved through note-taking, Internet research, and a hands-on approach to learning these components and how they inter-relate. Ultimately, students will be responsible for building a fully-functioning computer, utilizing a standard toolset and the components that they have studied.

In order to provide my students with a positive learning environment, I have implemented a set of classroom rules (see flip side). Please take a moment to discuss them with your child, as I expect every student to understand and obey them.

Please sign and return the acknowledgment form below as soon as possible. As always, if you have any questions please call me at 225-3000 or, better yet, visit me here on campus (Room #412 or #305). Together, we can make a difference in your child’s life!

Sincerely yours,

Steven Andre
