Objective
Coordinate and facilitate safe, healthy, structured programming for Neighborhood Youth Services (NYS) youth and families.
Background
Neighborhood Youth Services is a community-based program of Woodland Hills. NYS services more than 500 youth ages 6-18 each year. Average daily attendance ranges from 20-40 youth. Part-time position of approximately 25 hours is grant funded for one year. Additional funding is expected and will continue the position beyond the first 12 months.

Responsibilities:
Youth Management
· Model positive, appropriate behavior to all youth and families.
· Ensure all new NYS members have an application on file and are properly oriented in accordance with NYS standards and expectations.
· Maintain consistent disciplinary actions utilizing NYS program philosophy with honoring disciplinary policies and procedures.
· Build positive relationships with youth and their families to include communication of events, programs and concerns regarding youth.
· Incorporate Asset Development into all NYS activities.
· Develop and deliver consistent age-appropriate programming activities in any or all of the following categories: academic achievement, enrichment, healthy lifestyles, service learning, social skills development, job training.
· Provide a healthy, safe environment to include medical attention for youth on an as needed basis.
Team
· Understand and support the Woodland Hills’ mission statement and NYS purpose statement while working to achieve annual goals.
· Follow team primacy concept.
· Attend and contribute to weekly NYS Team meetings, be prepared and on time.
· Willingness to give and accept constructive feedback.
· Be punctual for all shifts.
· Be dependable regarding tasks, responsibilities, and follow through.
· Maintain appropriate standards of dress and role model positive behavior.
· Assist team members in the implementation of special events and program activities.
· Assist and/or lead team members in food service delivery and Chef’s Club by preparing, serving, and/or cleaning up meals.
· Follow all van safety rules and report maintenance needs immediately.
· Other duties as requested by the NYS Program Director.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
· Have direct experience working with diverse cultural and socio-economic communities and demonstrate the ability to build positive relationships with youth and families.
· Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Possess effective organizational skills and be flexible to meet the changing needs of the program.
· Have the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
· Have working knowledge of asset development and conflict resolution.
· Be familiar with mandatory reporting laws.
· Be proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook and Word.
· Possess current valid driver’s license and meet agency driving requirements.
· Possess or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon hire.
Education and Experience
· At least two years direct experience working with youth ages 6-18 in both a learning and recreational environment required.
· Bachelor’s degree in a human services, education, or related field preferred.
