Beverly Janae Garrett Bold As Love Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory and to honor Beverly Janae Garrett. Beverly was a debutante in the first Southern Crescent Pearls Cotillion. The scholarship’s mission is to recognize and provide financial assistance to an outstanding college-bound high school senior that has demonstrated a simple act of kindness which has enriched the life of another person.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

·  Be a female high school senior in Henry, Clayton, or South DeKalb County. Eligible South DeKalb County schools are Southwest DeKalb, Martin Luther King, Columbia, and Cedar Grove.

·  Be a U. S. citizen and have permanent residence in the United States.

·  Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate studies at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational school based in the United States (excluding proprietary and online schools).

·  Student must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.

·  The applicant must be able to provide an official copy of their high school transcript.

·  A personal interview will be required.

Applications must be submitted no later than the first Friday in March to be considered.

CHECKLIST

1. Completed Electronic Application: please be sure all information on the form is completed

2. Transcript: official transcript that bears the high school seal and signature of the school administrator. The transcript should be dated on or after the 2nd Friday in in January.

3. Acceptance letter: an acceptance letter from a college or university the applicant has applied to.

4. Essay: submit electronically a one page essay, 250 words maximum, describing an act(s) of kindness you have demonstrated. Include in the essay a description of how you have been of service to others.

All of the required documents must be electronically submitted to by the first Friday in March.
