A September 2005 survey of 2,104 households in the United States found that 65% of
them subscribed to cable television.
1) Identify the population for the survey:
2) How many households are in the sample?
3) Of the households surveyed, how many households subscribe to cable television?
4) A follow-up survey of a sample of 1,200 U.S. households found that 360
households have high-speed Internet connection.
Use this statistic to estimate what percentage of all U.S. households have high-
speed Internet:
The survey showedthat households without Internet connection are twice more likely to
subscribe to a daily newspaper than the households with Internet connection.
The researchers concluded households with Internet connection often get their news
from Web sites instead of daily newspapers.
