Bye-Law 10 -Academic Representatives

10.1Partnership

10.1.1The Students’ Union is responsible for running an active academic representation system in partnership with UWTSD as outlined in Chapter 12 of the Academic Quality handbook.

10.2Faculty Reps

10.2.1 The following Faculty Reps shall be elected in April / May of each year:

10.2.1.1Faculty of Business & Management (Carmarthen)

10.2.1.2Faculty of Business & Management (Swansea)

10.2.1.3Faculty of Education & Communities (Carmarthen)

10.2.1.4Faculty of Education & Communities (Swansea)

10.2.1.5Faculty of Architecture, Computing & Engineering (Swansea)

10.2.1.6Faculty of Art & Design (Swansea)

10.2.1.7Faculty of Humanities & Performing Arts (Lampeter)

10.2.2Should all positions not be filled during the April / May elections, the remaining positions will be filled via an appointment process before the first Faculty Board meetings in October of the following academic year.

10.2.3Faculty Reps will be remunerated for their work at a rate set by the Remuneration and HR sub-committee of the Trustee Board.

10.2.4In addition to sitting on Faculty Board, Faculty Reps are also a full voting member of the relevant Campus Student Council.

10.2.5The Students’ Union will publish a role description outlining Faculty Rep duties on an annual basis and will additionally provide comprehensive training and support.

10.3Course Reps

10.3.1The Students’ Union will work with the University’s Student Experience Department, Faculties and Academic Schools to ensure that all students have the opportunity to be engaged in all aspects of their educational experience.

10.3.2The Students’ Union will provide University staff with guidance and support on running course rep elections, and will provide training opportunities to elected reps.

10.3.3The Students’ Union will publicise the elected reps contact details and encourage reps to network and share ideas and issues.

10.3.4The Students’ Union will work with Academic Schools to identify cohorts of students with specific engagement needs and develop flexible systems of representation.

10.4Complaints

10.4.1Complaints relating to Faculty and Course Reps will be dealt with via the Disciplinary process as outlined in Bye-Law 12.
