Mission Statement:

Brandon High School student and faculty volunteers will work together promoting awareness of the basic needs of animals in our community in order to better the health and protection of the pet population and the wellness of animals in shelters and veterinarian offices through donations and/or adoption services.

Purpose:

Student led volunteer group that will assist in promoting health awareness issues, donation drives, and aid in adoption services for pets and shelter animals in the Brandon community. This organization will introduce students to career opportunities in the areas of veterinary science, veterinary technicians, working for non profit organizations, law enforcement animal control officers, and specialized retail such as pet groomers and store owners. Students will interact with such professionals in order to enhance communication skills, work ethic, goal setting, and engage in community service for graduation volunteer service hours.

Overview of group activities:

*Boe the Bulldog is the face of Paws for a Cause

*Themed donation drives: October, December, and March

*Partnership with local animal rescue leagues/veterinarians in the Brandon area to educate members on proper animal care in order to promote in community

*Shelter Pet Donation Treat and Toy Tree at Christmas

*Student created social media pages for organization, which will be monitored by the organization sponsor at all times; FB, Twitter, Remind 101

*Boe’s Buddy of the Month recognition on the club’s social media sites

*Organization participating in the Wiggle Waggle 5K Rescue Run/Walk, November 5, 2016

*Collaborating with the BHS Art Department in creating a pet bandana/collar and/or identification tag for organization to retail

*Students will be educated on the proper treatment/handling of animals and must sign a consent waiver in order to participate in the organization
