WORKING BEE COMMITMENT:

Due to our unique provision of a quality education for a minimal fee and without extra levies, Tallowood Steiner School is unable to fund the salaries of all the ancillary school staff, who are needed to keep the school grounds and buildings in a clean and safe condition, compliant with all occupational Health and Safety obligations and requirements. It is therefore an intrinsic part of your enrolment agreement to commit a portion of your time and energy, on a per term basis, to ensuring that the essential grounds and building maintenance are done. The two areas which the school pays for, out of necessity, are twice weekly cleaning and regular mowing and brush-cutting.

Each term there will be at least one major working bee, from 8.30 until 1.30pm on the Saturday before a new term begins. This Working Bee is to prepare the school grounds, paths and all outdoor and classroom areas for the new term which is about to begin. Working bees also play an important social role in our school, in bringing us all together to contribute to our common cause, which is ensuring Tallowood’s success and continuation, for the benefit of our children. At times, an additional Working Bee outside of these times, may be considered necessary and this will be notified at least 3 weeks in advance of the chosen date, by the Principal. The same Levy option of $100 will be available for those who are unable to attend.

It is understood that we all have unique personal circumstances and that not all people can come to every working bee. A certain degree of flexibility can be applied, if necessary. If you are absolutely unable to come to a particular working bee then you will need to contact the Principal PRIOR to the scheduled working bee day, otherwise the Levy option of $100 will be automatically charged to your account. The school Principal is responsible for ensuring that the school maintains a high standard of Work Health and Safety compliance and for being aware of everything which needs be addressed in this area.

I…………………………………………………..understand that an intrinsic part of my enrolment obligation at Tallowood is the commitment to participate in regular working bees, every term. If I am unable to attend a working bee I understand that I will contact the Principal PRIOR to the scheduled working bee date, I understand failure to do so will result in $100.00 being charged to my account.

I …………………………………………………….prefer the option of paying $100 per term, in lieu of attending Working Bees.
