The Biomechanics intermediate and advanced cpd events brought forward from 2017, are taking place in February and there are a few places still available if you are quick.

A full day two part CPD day Mental Health and Wellbeing for Podiatrists.
Date Friday 2ndMarch. 10am to 4pm.

Managing service users with mental health illness is very much a part of our clinical remit. In order for Health and social care professionals to assist and advise service users, they must care for their own mental health as well.. This full day two part cpd day incorporates both aspects of this.
Part one:
Safe talk:
Safe talk is a half day programme for front line workers in suicide awareness.Launched by the National office for suicide prevention and part of the “connecting for life, national strategy to reduce suicide 2005 to 2020. This training programme prepares participants to identify persons with thoughts of suicide, confidently ask them about the topic of suicide and connect them with suicide first aid resources.
Please note:Safe talk request for persons recently bereaved or sensitive to this subject not to attend and also request strict punctuality. Participants arriving after 10 am cannot be admitted.
Part two:
An introductory workshop in compassion fatigue.
Compassion fatigue describes the 2 overall experience of emotional and physical fatigue that people who care for others experience when due to chronic use of empathy when engaging with service users who are suffering in some way “(Newell and Mc Neil, 2010).
This two hour workshop by Jennifer Reidy (Compassion fatigue Ireland) will focus on compassion fatigue, preventing burn out in the workplace and self care for health professionals .

This is a HSE cpd funded event and is open to all podiatrists on the HSE approved list. Preferential booking applies as usual as only 15/20 places available, HSE employees fulltime, part-time, sessional and then open to any other podiatrist on the approved list.
