HALLOWEEN
Our annual Halloween Parade will be held on Friday, October 31, at 2:00 PM. We will follow the usual route and have the class parties when the parade ends. Please do not arrive before 1:30. We like to teach as much as possible and limit the distraction to the end of the day.
NOTE: CPS has a nonviolent parade. We do not allow guns, knives, spears, swords, or weapons of any kind in our parade. We love to see animals, storybook characters, careers, kings, queens, etc.
MEAP - GRADES 3-6
PARENTS:
There are a number of changes this year. The State is very strict about testing procedures. If a student starts a test, but does not finish and leaves the room, they must start all over again on a new test. It is VERY IMPORTANT that children be here on October 21 and 23.
It is also important for each child to get a good breakfast and a good nights sleep. We share your desire to have your child do their very best at school.
CONGRATULATIONS, MRS. COCHRILL!
Priscilla Cochrill of Applegate, a 4th grade teacher
at Carsonville-Port Sanilac, is the Sanilac County Farm Bureau's K-12 Educator of the Year for 2008. Mrs. Cochrill is honored for her excellence in education and efforts to teach agriculture in the classroom. She was recognized at the county annual meeting in August, but was unable to attend to receive her award to mark the occasion. Mrs. Cochrill teaches students about where their food comes from, and about current issues affecting the agriculture industry through a variety of means, including hands on learning and using the Little Red Barn provided by theSanilac County Farm Bureau
Office. Mrs. Cochrill was nominated by a former student and parent. "She keeps learning fun and exciting." Alongside honorees from counties across the state, Mrs. Cochrill is now eligible to compete at the state level during the Michigan Farm Bureau's 2008 Annual Meeting, December 2-5.
The Educator of the Year award recognizes teachers who exceed normal curriculum guidelines to educate young people about the reality of agriculture. "With children today farther and farther removed
from life on the farm, the role of ag. educators only gets more and more
important, " says Deb Schmucker, manager of MFB's Promotion and Education Department. "Sometimes theseteachers are the only source of
information children have about the importance of farming. This award is just one small way we can thank them, and recognize the vital work they do for our industry.
