1) Sub Committee working on Response to EDI Outcomes (Cathy Millard) – a workgroup
continues to develop a communication/media campaign around the Physical Health and
Well Being domain. The messages will target parents and community members and will be
rolled out to target specific sub domains over a period of time (healthy eating, school
readiness, gross motor, fine motor)
Next Meeting – October 19 Health Unit
2) Read to Every Kid – Official Launch October 2
Books were distributed at a professionals’ breakfast on September 19
Funding for French programme will be requested through a provincial grant application and a
request to Regional French Network.
Please promote the programme through your agencies.
3) Regulatory Amendments to Child Care and Early Years Act – posted for community
feedback until December 1 --
4) Transportation Committee –(Beth Steel)
Meeting September 27 –
Sue Watts has resigned as Chair (a huge thank you to Sue for all her efforts on behalf of
this group!)
Members discussed the need to regroup, to redefine our vision. What specific actions
will move things forward? Who needs to be at the table?
Beth will gradually phase out of her role.
Rideshare Portal Liability follow-up –
- assuming go ahead from concerned agencies and lawyers, we can work on a disclaimer that is more details as desired - perhaps a couple of interested people will assist. Beth has samples from other sites of varying complexity…
Next steps
- more thorough trial with committee acting as ride seekers/offers.
- Focus group trial with potential users - Hub, Healthy baby clients, another suggestion?
- Distribution of revised and trialed site to EKIOC organizations
- Communication plan and wide distribution - Leeds and Grenville launch
5) Healthy Kids Community Challenge – Meeting – October 4 1:30 Health Unit
Fourth theme was introduced – screen time
Members brainstormed activities that might accompany this theme.
6) LGBTQ+ Training – Full day training to be offered by ARCC on November 10
Sue P. and I will work with other partners to ensure that the training priorities identified
through partner surveys are addressed either through this or future training opportunities.

7) Triple P Meeting September 28 (Cathy Millard)
- Resources ordered for community partners
- 14 people involved in Teen training
- Radio ads and you tube videos being developed
- November meeting to develop a survey to capture what is happening with Triple P in various communities

Positive Parenting Cafes for parents of 0-12 year olds. Small group settings that explore
parenting strategies on a specific topic. Brockville, Gananoque and Kemptville. For more

Triple P Parenting Seminars for parents of 0-12 year olds. Group setting with supper and
child care provided. Brockville, Gananoque. For more information and to register, visit
Triple P Parenting TEEN Seminars for parents of 10-16 yearolds. One day workshop in

Family Transitions for parents recently divorced or separated. This program provides ideas,
techniques and strategies to help deal with the fallout from a family split. Starts October 10 in
Brockville. Parents can register with Children’s Mental Health of Leeds & Grenville at 1-800-

Group Triple P for parents of 2-12 year olds. Gain positive parenting strategies to help your
child manage their behaviour and make family life more enjoyable. Starts October in
Brockville. Parents can register with Christine Thomson (Family and Children Services) at

8) Meeting of LLG Co-chairs/Planners – September 11
Discussion Included:
a) FASD –
Agreement that work of FASD Committee should link to SNS planning.
Action: FASD Committee report will be added to planning table agendas for
regular updates
b)ASD – Concerns expressed about attendance etc.
c)Joint Meetings – agreement to invite EKIOC Lead Table members to training hosted by Lanark family centred care
When – tentatively January 18
d)Aboriginal Kids in Care –
There was agreement that policy, advocacy and joint planning are required.
Next Steps:
i)LG will be invited to education day hosted by Lanark Community Issues committee in Smiths Falls. Sue P. will forward the date.
ii)Lorena will meet with Sue Poldervaart and CAS representatives to discuss formation of a broader committee
