Whereas, the members of the General Assembly sincerely honor and congratulate Florinette Ford Renfrow of Lake View upon her receipt of the most prestigious Mother of the Year award; and

Whereas, Florinette Ford Renfrow was born October 13, 1937, in Lake View to Isla Frances Edwards and William Jesse Ford; and

Whereas, she attended Lake View High School and Francis Marion University; and

Whereas, the children have all gone on to become very successful and have made substantial contributions in responsible positions; and

Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Renfrow’s home may be empty during the week, but it is often full on weekends when her children’s families come to visit; and

Whereas, since 1972, Mrs. Renfrow has worked as Librarian of the Lake View Branch Library and, while raising eleven children and being a model wife, Mrs. Renfrow has contributed her time and talents to her church and her community; and

Whereas, she has been a leader of the “Acteens” mission group for the Pee Dee Baptist Association, served as Director of the Women On Missions, and organized clothing ministries at several churches; and

Whereas, Mrs. Renfrow is a strong supporter and on the Board of Trustees for Camp Pinehill, the Pee Dee Baptist Association camp, and currently works in the Crisis Ministry at First Baptist Church in Dillon; and

Whereas, Mrs. Renfrow has helped many migrant workers and indigent families in her community, providing them with clothing, food, toys, and health kits that she made, as well as hosting a Hispanic Backyard Bible School at her home during the summers; and

Whereas, for her charitable and unselfish actions, Mrs. Renfrow was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year for Dillon County by the Department of Social Services; and

Whereas, it is appropriate that the members of the General Assembly pause in their deliberations to extol such a quintessential mother and so distinguished a daughter of South Carolina as Florinette Ford Renfrow of Lake View and honor her upon her receipt of the Mother of the Year award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend Mrs. Florinette Ford Renfrow of Lake View for her dedication to her family and family values exhibited over many years while raising a Christian family of eleven outstanding and accomplished children and congratulate her for being named the 2002 South Carolina Mother of the Year.
