Modular Classroom Additions at Broad Rock Elementary School

A Pre-Construction Meeting regarding the subject projects was held on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the offices of Richmond Public Schools (RPS) Facility Services. The three (3) subject projects were open only to RPS pre-qualified Class-A General Contractors, and the meeting was considered “mandatory” pursuant to the IFB’s, therefore bidding is limited to the three above mentioned firms.

The purpose of this document is to provide written response to questions or concerns as a result of the Pre-Bid Conference.

1.  Clarification: The drawings and specifications (Bid Documents) for this project can be found on the RPS Division of Purchasing website at the following link: http://web.richmond.k12.va.us/Departments/Purchasing/RFPs.aspx

2.  Additional Information: Manufacturers Drawings/Documents are attached to this document.

3.  Clarification: Substantial Completion is herein defined as the date by which the pre-manufactured modular classrooms shall be delivered (delivery is scheduled to begin on August 4, 2016), and shall be further defined to mean that the underground site utilities shall be installed and ready for final connection. The first modular unit is scheduled for delivery on August 4, 2016, and the final delivery is scheduled for August 10, 2016). The modular classroom buildings must be ready for occupancy by September 3 so that teachers can setup their classrooms for the first day of school on September 6, 2016.

4.  Additional Information Specific to Broad Rock: Please note Pier “B1” and Pier “B2” Details and Notes on Sheet A101. General Contractor to coordinate use of appropriate pier detail, utilizing information provided within the attached Manufacturers Drawings/Documents, in conjunction with the previously provided Civil Drawings. This condition DID exist in the “front portion” of the Modular Classroom Phase I Installation Project last year. The “front portion” is that end of the classroom building closest to the existing school.

5.  Clarification: The cut-off date and time for all questions pertaining to this bid is 4:00 P.M., July 5, 2016.

6.  Clarification: All Bids are due in the RPS offices of the Division of Purchasing, not later than 2:30 P.M. on July 12, 2016. Bids will be publically opened at 2:30 P.M. on July 13, 2016 in the offices of the RPS Division of Purchasing. The RPS Division of Purchasing is located at 2395 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23220 (VATEX Building)
