WELCOME WEEK PLANNER APPLICATION (LOGISTICS)

The McMaster Social Science Society is hiring three Welcome Week Planners for the 2017/2018 academic year (2 programming, 1 logistics). The Welcome Week Planner position is responsible for planning and implementing a Welcome Week that is safe for all those involved, will boost the spirits of Social Sciences Students, will increase the presence of the McMaster Social Sciences Society and ensure all first year students feel welcomed to McMaster University. After Welcome Week, this position is responsible for assisting the MSSS with potential planning and running of social events throughout the year. It is important to remember that the Welcome Week Planner position is a YEAR long commitment and expected to meet a high standard of leadership and reliability.

In general, the Welcome Week Planner position is responsible for assisting with Blu Cru hiring alongside the President and Vice-President Administration, selecting and adhering to a theme for welcome week, creating a Welcome Week budget, communicating with the McMaster Social Sciences Society, McMaster Students Union and McMaster University offices, as well as local businesses.

The Logistics Planner is responsible for coordinating internal communication between planners, the MSSS core executive, and the Blu Cru team while maintaining contact with Welcome Week business partners. Furthermore, the Logistics Planner holds responsibility over administrative duties such as updating and organization of documents, financial records and organization. Overall, the primary focus of this position is to facilitate efficiency and maximize communication while assisting with programming and event planning. The logistics planner is expected to assist in the overseeing and managing of the Blu Cru team over the duration of the Welcome Week alongside the two programming planners.

Requirements

•Must be a McMaster Social Sciences student returning to full-time studies in the fall term

•Exceptional organization and time management skills required

•Exceptional ability to work in a team while maintaining an open-minded, inclusive attitude

•Strong interpersonal skills is imperative

•Previous experience in event management/coordination and fundraising an asset

•Previous experience in an administrative position an asset

•Applicants are not required to have applied for/been offered a position with Blu Cru
