Dear Ollie,

Parents and students in Year 12

The subject title is:Year 12 End of Year Examination Timetable 2017

The body of the email is:

Dear Parents & Students,

There has been a change to the end of year examinations timetable which begin on the weekcommencing 19 June as shown below. Should there be any clashes, both examinations will be taken on the same day with a supervised break in between to ensure the integrity of the second examination is not compromised. For example with Economics and RS, a student would sit the Economics examination during periods1 and 2 followed by the RS examination in periods 3 and 4.

The locations for the examinations are also shown; students with exams access arrangements will be located in other rooms and these will be discussed/shared with students on an individual basis shortly.

During the internal examination period, owing to the widespread disruption caused by student absence on any given day, there will be no timetabled lessons unless otherwise specified. Study leave will commence on Monday 19 June; from then until Friday 23 June, your son/daughter will be required to attend school only when he/she has examinations, although the Sixth Form Library may be used for private study. When attending school at any point in this period, students are required to wear full school uniform.

All students are expected to abide by the JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) rules which can be found on the school website and I suggest all students read the information provided

Should your son/daughter feel unwell during the examination week, we will require a doctor’s letter to support the illness and your son/daughter should return to the school as soon as he/she is able.

All students will be required in school from Monday 26 June there will be normal timetabled lessons in periods 1 and 2 on this day. All students taking the EPQ will be required to participate in a student meeting in the Sixth Form Library in period 3, and Year 12’s book return process will take place in period 4 (no timetabled lesson will run in this period for Year 12). In periods 5 and 6, students taking the Biology Olympiad will do so. All other students will be expected to use period 5 as a study period in the furtherance of their preparation for the UCAS process. Students may sign out and return home in period 6 if they wish. On Tuesday 27th June, timetabled lessons will run for all Year 12.

The results of the examinations will be given to students on Monday July 17th. I am aware that there are anxieties regarding the end of year examinations given their significance in ensuring progression to the chosen courses of study in Year 13 and their role in determination grade predictions for UCAS. I would however encourage all students to remember that they have studied hard all year, covered all the syllabus material, completed regular IPMs, received feedback/advice and should have confidence in their abilities.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Sidhu

Head of Year 12
