CLUBHOUSE
The clubhouse will be open from 18:00 until 20:00 on Tuesdays.
There will be 4km and 8km Time Trials starting at 18H00.
Members are still welcome to meet at the club on Thursdays to run but the clubhouse will not be open.
Admin (Registration Licenses) will be available on Tuesday evenings from 18:15 until 19:00

SPECIAL TIME TRIAL SOCIAL – 28 FEBRUARY 2012
The special Time Trial social held on 28 February in conjunction with Lewensentrum Atletiekklub was a huge success. Thanks to Denese Venter for the on-going renovation and decoration of the inside of the clubhouse! Thanks to Noeline Blignaut for arranging the event and the lucky draw hampers. Thanks to all members who attended. We will be doing this more often.

ALBERTON CITY ROAD RACE – 1 APRIL 2012
The club’s annual 15km race normally held in March has been changed to a 10km/21km event and moved to 1 April. We also have the honour of hosting the CGA 10km championships with this event.
Please keep Sunday 1 April open. Committee members will be phoning you in the coming weeks. Thanks in advance for your help!
COMRADES RACE-4-CHARITY “Amabeadibeadi”initiative
Shaun Naidoo one of our members is aiming for his first Comrades in 2012. He is also aiming to run 12 Marathons in 12 Months for 2012 crossing the finish line performing a cartwheel at every marathon.
Heis aggressively marketing his Race-4-Charity Amabeadibeadi initiative, as well as his “Cart-Wheels” for charity initiative.
He has performed a cart-wheel at all five marathons he has done so far this year, 7 to go!!
He is supporting the Wildlands Conservation Trust, plus working to hit the R5000 mark to earn him a “CC” seeding for Comrades.

ANNUALPRIZE-GIVINGPOINTS SYSTEM
Some members are not aware of the annual points system that gets used to determine winners in each distance and category at the annual prize-giving. The system is explained fully on the website Road Running -> Incentives or contact Andries Venter or Deon Pretorius for more information.
In summary:
- The first 3 runners per category at selected CGA, GN and Vaal races receive 100, 99 and 98 points respectively.
- To be considered for an annual category prize a person has to compete in at least 3 races (from the selected list) for that category for the year and the person’s top 3 points for the year for that category are added together.
- The top 3 points earners for the year win first, second and third place per category.
- A person receives additional points for breaking club records for a specific category and distance at any of the selected races.
- The reason for limiting it to CGA, GN and Vaal races is mainly to eliminate the advantage someone gains from running at lower altitude as well as to “equal” the playing field regarding costs to attend far-off races.
