About OxburyEstablished in 1990, Oxbury is a firm of professional Quantity Surveyors who also work as Project Managers, Employers Agents and CDM Co-ordinators. The Company Head Office is in Norwich and we also have an office in Chelmsford.
Oxbury specialises in the affordable housing sector and most of our clients are Housing Associations, although we do also work with a number of private clients. Our Project Managers deal with the full range of project management and quantity surveying functions, from the inception of projects to their completion. Projects range from single dwellings to multi-million pound developments.
Our work includes the acquisition of sites and management of projects let under Design and Build Contracts and also under a number of procurement arrangements for properties acquired from Housing Developers under Section 106 Planning Agreements. Traditional contracts based on drawings and specifications are also used – generally for refurbishment and /or smaller schemes. Innovative forms of construction and sustainable construction projects also form a significant part of our workload.
In 2011 the Firm launched a wholly-owned subsidiary – Redbox Partnerships, which works with Developers, Housing Associations and Local Authorities to assist with planning their affordable housing requirements.

About the jobs
We currently have vacancies forprofessionally qualified (or near qualified) Quantity Surveyors to work as Project Managers / Employers Agents. The roleswill be based at either our Head Office on the St Andrews Business Park in Norwich, or at our office in Springfield, Chelmsford. About three quarters of the role will be office based with the rest out on building sites or at external meetings.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a number of projects. This includes responsibility for project delivery; achieving targets; resolving issues with clients and invoicing. Some of the main tasks are:
- Managing the acquisition of planning permission and arranging for site surveys, ground investigations and utilities enquiries.
- The co-ordination of projects pre-contract, including chairing project meetings and preparing development programmes.
- Preparing construction cost estimates.
- Drafting Employer’s Requirements.
- Preparing and analysing tender enquiry and contract documents; including negotiating tenders and contract terms.
- Post-contract administration of Design and Build Contracts, as Employer’s Agent. Including preparing project and cost reports for clients, monitoring progress on site, dealing with contract matters and approving interim payments.
- Responsibility for the larger and more complex projects.
- Providing training, development and support to our Trainee Quantity Surveyors.
- Providing technical and specialist support to less experienced Project Managers.
You will work as part of a team with appropriate administrative support. Reporting to a Director you will also have technical and specialist support when required.

Current CSCS card holder.
Experience / Knowledge / Experience of Design and Build procurement and contract administration, in the role of Employer’s Agent.
Experience of cost management and reporting.
Experience of providing early advice and liaison with clients. / Experience in the affordable housing sector.
Experience of traditional contracts (with and without quantities)
Experience acting in the role of CDM coordinator.
Skills and aptitudes / Capable of meeting deadlines and targets.
Client focused.
Professional demeanor.
Confident verbal communication and diplomacy in a variety of situations.
Computer literate. / Supervision and training of junior staff.
Other Requirements / Capable of moving around a construction site (eg rough / muddy ground, climbing ladders, stepping over low walls etc)
Valid UK driving licence.
Committed to ongoing professional training and development.
Main terms and conditions of employment
Working hours:
The role is full-time, working 37.5 hours a week.
Salary:
Starting salary will bein the range:
£40,000 - £45,000 for Senior Project Managers
£35,000 - £40,000 for Project Managers (MRICS qualified)
£30,000 - £35,000 for Project Managers (APC level)
Company car:
You will be entitled to a company car.
Training:
The Company will support you to maintain the appropriate levels of Continuing Professional Development required by the RICS.
Pension:
The Company operates a contributory pension scheme for which you will be eligible. Under the current scheme the Company will make contributions at a level of twice your contribution to a maximum (on the Company’s part) of 6% of basic annual salary.
Holidays:
Bank Holidays plus 25 working days per year. After 5 years completed service with the Company you will get an additional 2 days holiday per annum.
Flexible working:
The Firm operates a flexi-time system which allows flexibility over working times.You can accrue additional hours and take up to 2 flexi-leave days each month. In addition the system allows occasional home working.
Statutory Sick Pay:
Statutory sick pay will be ‘topped-up’ to full salary for a period of 13 weeks in total in any period of 52 consecutive weeks.
