United Way to Announce Campaign Results at ‘Unite!’ Celebration Nov. 14

The Tulsa Area United Way will announce the results of its 2013 campaign at the “Unite!” celebration on Thursday, Nov. 14.

The celebration, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Tulsa Community College Center for Creativity, 910 S. Boston Ave.

“The Unite celebration is an annual United Way tradition in which the community comes together to learn about our campaign success,” said Mark Graham, president and CEO of the Tulsa Area United Way.

The goal of this year’s campaign is $25,200,000 – the largest goal in the history of the Tulsa Area United Way.

“This goal represents the very real needs of our community, our 62 partner agencies and the more than 630,000 people they serve each year,” said Becky Frank, chair of the 2013 campaign.

The campaign was launched before 18,000 fans at the MidFirst Backyard Bowl, the legendary Jenks-Union high school football game, on Sept. 13. The campaign culminates with the “Unite!” celebration on Nov. 14.

Last year, the Tulsa Area United Way surpassed its goal of $24,900,000 by $675,000, raising a record-shattering $$25,575,522. More than 48,000 individuals provided gifts and more than 1,300 companies, businesses and organizations conducted employee campaigns in support of the overall goal. In addition, more than 6,500 volunteers provided 57,500 hours of volunteer service.

At the “Unite!” celebration, each division of the United Way’s all-volunteer campaign cabinet will announce their results, leading to a grand total announced at the end of the evening.

“This is a much-anticipated event in our community and we look forward to celebrating a successful campaign,” Graham said.
