I am delighted to report a very smooth start to this academic year. Our new First Year pupils have settled well under the caring and watchful eye of Ms Sinclair. We recognise the importance of establishing good routines and look to you to help us by getting your children to school in time for an 8.45 am start

The standard of school dress code is very good and we are grateful to parents for your support in this matter. Each young person has been issued with a homework diary. We ask that you check and sign this weekly to help keep your child ‘on track’.

Congratulations to all our Senior students last year. Our SQA results continue to be among the best in Glasgow. This year’s results again showed improvement and we are certain that this trend will continue. We look forward to a successful and productive year working with you to ensure each young person achieves their very best.

Please note that the SQA exams commence on Friday 26th April. In order that your child is best prepared we request that you do not arrange any family holidays during term time.

The start of the year has been very busy as you will see from the items below. Further information is available on our web-site on www.shawlandsacademy.glasgow.sch.uk

The school will be closed for holidays on Friday 21st September and Monday 24th September. It will also be closed to pupils for an in-service day on Tuesday 25th September.

We look forward to welcoming all pupils back to school after their restful break on Wednesday 26th September.

PREMIERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Thirty Eight pupils and four staff visited the Stadium of Light on Saturday 15th September to watch the Sunderland v Liverpool game. The stadium was full to capacity and the atmosphere was electric! It was a fantastic day and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved! The pupils conducted themselves brilliantly all day - they are a credit to the school! We hope to arrange another Premiership Experience in the near future, to visit a different stadium and watch other teams.

Shawlands Academy Parent Teacher Council (PTC) is very supportive of the school. The AGM is on Monday 1st October at 7pm in room N10. All parents/carers welcome.
