What is a District Assembly?

The District Assembly is the most important meeting of the new Rotary year! It provides M.I.T. – Motivation, Information, and Training for incoming Club Officers and Board Members. It’s an opportunity for new members to learn more about the goals and activities of Rotary; a chance to prepare for potential future leadership involvement at the Club, District, and International levels; and a forum for meeting motivated Rotarians from other Clubs in our great District 5240.

Who should attend the District Assembly?

Attendance at a District Assembly can be important to any serious Rotarian. Those who profit most include: all incoming Club Officers such as President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Directors. All Chairpersons under the Directorships of Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service, New Generations, and the Rotary Foundation should attend. Special training is also offered in classes such as Membership, Public Relations, Risk Management, Club Runner, and Club Programs. The District Assembly is great for new Rotarians or Rotary members who have never attended a District event. Potential Club leaders should attend, but also former officers with experiences and ideas to share.

The New Generations Symposium

Rotarians who would normally attend a New Generationsclass will be welcome to attend the New Generations Symposium -- shown on the Registration Form during sessions A&B – as observers. It will be inspiring for all, buttheagenda for the Symposiumis to inspire and educate the next generation of Rotarians: Interactors and Rotaractors. The breakout after lunch will be the traditional New Generations class for Rotarians.

Why attend the District Assembly?

You will receive the training you will need to perform the duties of your Rotary position in the coming Rotary year. The District Assembly is an important opportunity for an individual Rotarian to learn, to share, and to better understand Rotary at the Club, District, and International levels. Assembly classes are coordinated and taught by dedicated and knowledgeable Rotarians who promise to make your day a useful and enjoyable one.

Cost of the District Assembly

Cost for the District Assembly is paid by the clubs. Each club’s payment covers the entire club regardless of the number of members who attend. So make the most of this opportunity for training your club leaders while making new friendships from around the district. All clubs will be assessed regardless of number of members attending, even if no members attend.
