BloodNet Individual Login:Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is it called aBloodPortal account? I thought I was registering for an individual login to BloodNet?

BloodPortal is the National Blood Authority’s central user management and authentication system that controls access to multiple systems, including BloodNet. Not only will this save you from remembering a lot of passwords, you can update your contact details for the NBA in one place, subscribe to a range of mailing lists on specific topics and readily access other systems such as BloodChat and the Australian Bleeding Disorders Registry (if you are an approved user of ABDR).

When will this account be active?

You will be able to access BloodPortal and other applications such as BloodChat as soon as you register your account, login and change your temporary password.

From 19 January 2013 onwards, your BloodPortal account will be the only way you can access BloodNet. You will be able to create your BloodPortal account between 3 December 2012 and 11 January 2013. All generic laboratory accounts will continue to be active until 19 January 2013.

The cut off for creating new logins for existing users will be on 11 January 2013. Individual logins will be available from 19 January 2013 onwards. This deadline is important to give us enough time to ensure your accounts will be linked when the release goes live on 19 January 2013.

Until this date please continue to use your current generic login to access BloodNet even after creating your individual login as BloodNet is not able to run two access systems at one time.

What happens if I forget my username or password?

Go to the BloodPortal login screen at click the “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” buttons at the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions.

How often do I need to change my password?

Passwords expire every 180 days.

Why do you want so many email addresses and phone numbers?

As a minimum we only need one email address and one mobile phone number.
