Edward A. & Ettie M. Rieman Scholarship
These scholarships have been established by the family of Ed and Ettie Rieman in their memory. Ed was a coach, teacher, and school administrator, having retired as superintendent of the Miller City – New Cleveland school district. He was active in education, as well as many civic organizations in Putnam County and the State of Ohio throughout his 87 years, including holding the office of Putnam County Commissioner. Ettie was a career woman, homemaker, and active member in many organizations as well during her 94 years. While serving as an officer for the Putnam County Historical Society, she helped publish several books on Putnam County history, including The Blizzard of 1978. The Riemans were married for over 50 years.
In 2016 – Four $1,000.00 non-renewable scholarships will be awarded.
Qualifications
- Must be a graduating senior from one of the nine Putnam County High Schools.
- To be awarded to individuals who have demonstrated volunteerism, service to community, good citizenship, strong character as well as patriotism to country. A special interest is noted toward any individuals planning to major in education and become an elementary or secondary teacher, however this is not a requirement. All Putnam County graduating seniors planning to attend college are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Please note it is not a requirement that the applicant be planning a career in education. All participants will be considered.
Timeline
- Application deadline is March 31, 2017.
- Recipients to be announced by April 28, 2017.
- Monies to be awarded after completion of 1st quarter/semester of college.
Application Procedure
Return completed application to High School Counselor by Wednesday, March 29, 2017 or submit application directly to Gary Herman, Curriculum Coordinator, Putnam County Educational Service Center no later than 4:00 p.m. on March 31, 2017.
