CMiC – Submittal via Collaboration for Owner/Architect

Overview: How to manage the submittal process using collaboration:

Using collaboration on a project means Subcontractors, Architects, Owners, Consultants and other business project partners can access CMiC to facilitate efficient flow of information through the system to one another. By using collaboration on projects, more information can be captured, referenced and utilized both during construction and post job completion. While there are various ways collaboration may be used, Swinerton has identified the workflow below as a successful path to process submittals on a collaborative project.

ARCHITECT / OWNER / CONSULTANT REVIEW SUBMITTALS ELECTRONICALLY:

1.  Architect logs in to CMiC.

2.  Open the “Communication Management” object

3.  Click “Transmittals”

4.  Click on the bold blue transmittal from General Contractor

5.  Click blue link under “reference” to view the submittal that is being transmitted.

6.  Submittal Detail screen will appear. Click on the “Attachments” tab (a indicates an attachment is present)

7.  Review & Upload Attachments:

a.  Download/View GC Reviewed Submittal

b.  Upload the reviewed/marked up version of the submittal. Click the “Upload New” button

a.  A pop up will appear. Click the “Browse…” button to find your document.

Once the document is selected, the “Description “box will auto-populate.

b.  Select the “Review Type” of the document = “Architect Review” and add Architect Review to the end of the document name in the Description box.

c.  Click “Save”

8.  Close the Submittal Detail tab.

Once the Submittal is close, you should be back at the Transmittal screen

9.  Return Button – click the return button on the Transmittals page

a.  Date – enter the date returned

b.  Comment – Type the Status of the submittal here: “No Exceptions Taken” or whatever the actual status is.

c.  Submit Button – click the submit button
