Application for the Post of S6 Senior Prefect
Applications are invited from S5 prefects who wish to take a more active leadership role in S6. Completed application forms should be submitted to MrsM Milne, Head Teacher on or before Monday 26 March 2018. Late applications will not be accepted.
Principal Teachers of Guidance and the Senior Leadership Team will consider all applications and select pupils for interview. Interviews will take place during exam leave. A maximum of 8 Senior Prefects will be appointed. You will be contacted with a date and time for interview.
Selected pupils will have successfully demonstrated:
- commitment to the school – school uniform, work ethic, positive attitude
- commitment to Prefect role in S5
- that they have and will continue to take their responsibilities seriously
- an ability to lead and inspire.
Roles and Responsibilities of S6 Senior Prefects
Prefects are ambassadors for the school at all times and promote the safety, health and happiness of all youngsters in our school. Responsibilities include promoting the life and work of the school by:
- supporting fellow pupils e.g.
- mentoring, pupil support, study support
- promoting ambition,
- promoting anti-bullying,
- monitoring behaviour on school transport,
- supporting the senior staff in the day-to-day running of the school e.g.
- promoting the school uniform,
- tours of the school for visitors,
- break / lunchtime supervision in and around campus (corridors, canteen, library, campus/village patrols etc)
- presenting at Assemblies.
- supporting whole school events e.g.
- Parents Evenings, Dances, Discos, Induction days, P7 Transition
- Awards Ceremony, Leavers Evening
- Sports/music events, fundraising events
- actively being involved in school committees and improvement teams
- actively being involved inleadership by
- leading teams of prefects and other pupils
- working co-operatively with all staff, Head and Depute Head Prefects

4. The Senior Prefect role offers opportunities to lead teams and get involved with the wider life and work of the school. State how you plan to take advantage of this. Include any specific roles or new ideas you would like to be involved in.

- I understand that prefect duties include representing the school on formal and informal occasions, being involved in organising events and fund-raising, being an ambassador for the school and a role model to other pupils.
- I will work hard to develop good relationships with staff and pupils and the wider community, consistently showing personal integrity and a positive attitude.
- I will be actively involved in leadership by leading teams of prefects and other pupils and working co-operatively with Guidance and Senior Leadership Teams, Teachers, and Head and Depute Head Prefects.
