German for Reading Knowledge 6 / Changes
Throughout: words that have occurred in Grundwortschatz have been systematically removed from glosses and NOT repeated in later G's
Glosses added for idiomatic expressions but NOT for Sachbezeichnungen / adjectives / simple verbs that can be intuited from context and/or looked up in the dictionary. Throughout, an effort has been made to encourage students to develop reading strategies that extend from recognizing structures, learning vocabulary, intuiting from context and background information, and increased and effective dictionary skills.
Beginning with Kapitel 7, the glosses in chapter readings have been reduced and no longer include words students need to learn to intuit and/or look up in dictionary [for which students need to be developing skills based on recognizing forms/context, intuiting and/or defining correctly using a good dictionary -- in other words the skills requisite for to succeed in reading and understanding German texts]
