A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in recognition of the Morehead State University cheerleaders upon claiming their 21st national cheerleading title.
WHEREAS, on January 15, 2006, the coed squad of the Morehead State University cheerleaders continued their long tradition of excellence by capturing an extraordinary 21st national championship title in Division I at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) competition held at Walt Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida. This impressive victory marked the fifth consecutive first place win and the sixteenth overall national title for MSU, having been judged the best in the country in 1988, 1991 through 2000, and every year since 2002; and
WHEREAS, MSU's all-girl cheerleading squad also made an impressive showing, finishing in third place; and to date, the all-girl squad has won the national cheerleading title five times, in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2005; and
WHEREAS, to participate in the national finals, both squads had placed first in the qualifying round, which consisted of a cheer video, as well a brief video that demonstrated the teams' students, pyramids, basket tosses, and tumbling. The Morehead State University Cheerleaders are coached by Tony Nash, spirit coordinator, and Brandon Armstrong, trainer, who have led these outstanding young athletes to the pinnacle of their sport, and who, together with their talented squads, have brought tremendous pride to Morehead State University, to their parents, and to the citizens of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate hereby congratulates the Morehead State University Cheerleaders upon capturing their 21st national cheerleading title, and wishes them success in every future endeavor.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Morehead State University cheerleading squads.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Coach Tony Nash, Morehead State University, 11 Allie Young Hall, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
