At the start of the meeting, the FSA account balance was $936.36. Two checks

were written at the start of the meeting bringing the balance to $759. 36. Mrs.

Foleno will check on the deposit date of FSA dues. The committee is also

expecting a check from Shoparoo by the end of the month.

The Halloween Party is on budget!

FSA has paid for the car magnets and decals. We will continue to sell them at

various school functions and after church services.

The FSA purchased a Christmas tree to decorate at the Westchester Park District

this year for $25. Decorating dates and ideas will be announced at a later date.

7:20-7:40 Committee Reports

-Room Mom Coordinators (Walters/Liu)

The Room Mom meeting went very well; the 7th grade has a

“Mom” now!

This year, two grades will join up to create one basket for Spring

Fling. Each class will also be asked to donate $45 to cover the

cost of their teacher’s Spring Fling ticket.

Spring Fling themes will be determined and shared soon.

-Hospitality (Uribe/Liu/Walters)

The Halloween Party is on track! The call for volunteers went

well; the committee has enough volunteers to staff the games and

booths for the evening. We DO need a few “floating” volunteers to relieve our stationary volunteers as needed. The committee also

has 6 students from 8th grade volunteering for the first hour of the

party.

Carvelli – Conway will drop off the donated hot dogs and wraps

this Thursday before the end of the school day.

-In School Services (Gage/Labellarte)

The Committee does not have news to report tonight.

-Fundraising / Community Cash (Guzzo/Carvelli-Conway)

The Box Tops for Education fundraiser ends this Friday.

Shoparoo check should have arrived. The Committee is expecting about

$500. Shoparoo supporters from the 2nd grade won the September contest.

Mrs. Guzzo is working with the school to schedule their ice cream party.

The school currently has 83 supporters and has earned about $100 so far

this year.

The Charelston Wrap fundraiser is over; overall sales were disappointing.

The Committee wonders if we need a different “holiday” fundraiser each

year in order to generate interest.

A DP car magnet and decal order form is going home this Friday. The

Committee will sell them at the Halloween party and is working with the Church to sell on some Sundays.

The Committee would like to have a Panera “date” during the first week of November to discuss new fundraising ideas. Please look for information soon! The group brainstormed possible ventures including World’s Finest, Kids Coupon Books and Schwan’s Cares Food Delivery service.

The Committee also wants to schedule more “dining out” fundraisers with local restaurants during DP’s winter sporting events.

-Student Enrichment (Morales)

-M. Sabatino and J. Murphy suggested participating in Six Flag’s Read to Succeed program. Students, grades kindergarten through 6th, can earn a free ticket to Six Flags if they log 6 hours or more of non-school reading. Registration begins in November and students read through March. Families would keep reading logs at home and turn them in to their teachers in at the end of February. Teachers would then mail the paper logs to Six Flags in March for verification; Six Flags would email a printable ticket to the student / family with the student’s name on it. There is NO COST to the school or families.

NEXT STEPS: Morales to take charge of the program and reach out to teachers to gauge participation interest.

-Teacher/Student Special Lunch Committee

It has been determined that the Student Special Lunch committee is part of FSA but they would rather not be involved in the FSA. They will still be in the directory under FSA at this point.

7:40-8:00 New Business-

Barnes & Noble offers a fundraising opportunity where volunteers can wrap

holiday gifts at the store and keep their “tips” from customers. The FSA will not

be participating in this activity at this time.

Jimmy Johns contacted the school to promote their Dine and Donate opportunity.

Please look for information on the Westchester Park District tree trimming night.

The FSA would like to start an email blast similar to Mrs. Foleno’s Friday letter. We would like to send a monthly newsletter to families about upcoming events. M. Sabatino suggested embedding “SignUp.com” in the newsletter so parents can instantly sign up for volunteering opportunities at the school. The FSA also started a Facebook page to promote FSA sponsored events.

The FSA is working on communicating and promoting Connection Hours.

Finally, the group would like to put on a Mixer for the older students. We would like to invite students from DP and DI to a Valentines Day themed mixer or an Open House “party.” Students could either have a traditional dance OR an Open House to play basketball, listen to music and have a dinner at the school.

Next meeting date (Sabatino) – Tuesday Nov. 15 7:00 PM
