1.Keynote Presentation
  • Ken Hughes, CAE of the City of Ottawa presented the Keynote address.

2.Presentation of the Brian Aiken Award
  • Brian Aiken presented the award to Mr. Amipal Manchanda in recognition of his contribution to the profession and to the Chapter.

3.Minutes from the 2013-14 Annual General Meeting
  • Members in attendance were asked to review the minutes from the 2104 Annual General Meeting. No comments or questions were voiced.
  • John Asher made a motion to accept the minutes and Carmen Abela seconded it. A vote was held and the motion to accept the minutes was passed.

4.President’s Report – Michèle Serano
  • Michèle presented highlights of the Chapter’s accomplishments from the 2014-15 year. These included:
  • The Canadian National Conference hosted by the Ottawa Chapter in 2014 was the mostsuccessful national conference ever held, with 800+ delegates and $474,707 in net revenues, of which $104,941 was allocated to the Ottawa Chapter.
  • The Chapter strengthened internal controls, including developing an investment strategyand implementing Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation.
  • Services to Members: The Chapter did a member survey and developed an action plan to act on opportunities, held an inaugural joint event with CPA Canada, supported the development of the Canadian Centre for Public Sector Auditing and continued to work towards developing an Internal audit curriculum in post-secondary institutions.
  • In terms of governance, the Board did a self-assessment, developed a sponsorship policy and improved processes and forms.

5.Recognition of Volunteers and Partners
  • Michèle Serano recognized retiring Board members Carmen Abela, Marianne Avarello, Shane Bracewell, Andréa Dorego and Annam Ganesan and thanked them for all their hard work.
  • She alsothanked all of the volunteers who work on Chapter committees and as well as those who helped make the National Conference such a success.
  • Event Planner Claire Fitzpatrick was recognized for her ongoing support to the Chapter.

6.Treasurer’s Report
  • John Asher presented the Treasurer’s report. He reported net income of $82,651, primarily a result of hosting the national conference.

7.2015-16 Board
  • The Ottawa Chapter proposed the following new Board members for 2015-16:
  • Sarah Parr – Secretary
  • Qiu Tong – Chair, Programs
  • Ziad Shadid – Vice-Chair, Programs
  • Christopher MacDonald – Membership
  • Cindy Shepherd – Certification and Events
  • John Gilhooly made a motion to accept all the proposed candidates and Joe Carpinone seconded the motion. A vote was held and the motion passed.

8.Adjournment
  • Marianne Avarello made a motion that the meeting be adjourned and Clarissa Crane seconded the motion. A vote was held and the motion passed.
  • The next AGM will be held in May 2016. Members will be contacted with the details once they have been finalized.
