CyberSecurity Lab Assistant – Computer Sciences
This job is a part time, non-benefited position in the Computer ScienceDivision that reports to the Program Director - Networking.
Salary–The targeted hourly rate for this position is $10.00 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications:
Some technical college courses preferred (CIST 1001, CIST 1122, and CIST 1601). Excellent customer service and communication skills required. Should be able to troubleshoot virtual machines, operating system (Windows, Linux, and Unix), hardware, software, Microsoft Office 2013/2016 applications, cd/dvd burning, and printer issues. Ability to be flexible in working conditions, schedules, and be able to lift 15to 30 lbs. Open to training and skills development. We also require the following skills: attention to detail, ability to multitask, stay on top of deadlines, fast learner, training skills, reporting/documenting capabilities, and excellent people skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or certification in Net+, Security +, Blackboard, Vmware, Virtualbox, Microsoft Office 2013/2016, Banner Web, Browsers, and any other computer certification is a plus. Preference will be given to applicants who are current students at GwinnettTechnicalCollege in the Computer Science Division.
Job Description Summary:
Under general supervision, assists the student computer user atGwinnettTechnicalCollege.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
- Provides oral and written reports as required.
- Performs basic administrative/clerical tasks to support the daily operation of the computer lab.
- Carefully listens to student(s) and offers encouragement and support.
- Maintains a positive, warm attitude that encourages the student(s) to learn.
- Informs appropriate staff about changes in meeting times.
- Performs basic administrative/clerical tasks to support the daily operations of the computer lab.
- Establishes and maintains records/files relating to the program's mission (daily sign in logs, if necessary). Operates computers, copiers, and other office equipment; performs routine user preventive maintenance on office equipment. Initiates, composes and accurately types correspondence and administrative documents according to established guidelines.
- Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
- Demonstrates eagerness to learn and assume responsibility; seeks out and accepts increased responsibility; displays a "can do" approach to work.
