September 21, 2015

Meeting Location: Avoyelles Parish Port Commission Offices

170 Honey Bee Lane

Simmesport, LA

Members Present: Tommy Maddie, Chairman, Robert Thevis, Walter Moreau, Wayne Coco, Van Kojis.

Members Absent: Jim Lee, Henry Moreau.

Guest Present:James Guillory, AIA

The meeting opened with roll call of members and the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made by Van Kojis and seconded by Walter Moreau to accept the minutes from the August 17, 2015 regular meeting that were present to the members. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion to pay the bills was made by Walter Moreau and seconded by Robert Thevis. Motion passed unanimously. Current Bills to be paid amount to $16,755.84. Income since last meeting amounted to $8,853.98 leaving a balance of $167,212.68. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Maddie gave an update on the Road, Sewer and Water project. He reported that the project was about almost complete and Substantial Completion should be issued very soon.

Mr. Maddie reported that the 8” waterline had been installed all the way to the Helena storage tank facility.

Mr. Maddie reported that 5 trailers were being rented. He indicated that there may be another to be rented in the near future. It was noted that several trailers needed repairs.

Old Business:

Mr. Maddie reported that the Foreign Trade Zone meeting was held in Alexandria in early September, but was not very productive.

Since the last meeting, Orkin has been contacted to do a termite inspection of the Port Office and to have it treated.

Robert Thevis reported that he had been in contact with Bob’s Tree Service regarding the work to be done on the oak trees on the property. It was determined that for the allocated money the Port Commission approved to spend, the work would include the trimming of 10 trees and the bracing of 6 trees.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Wayne Coco and seconded by Robert Thevis. The motion was passed unanimously.
