THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
“Worship is a royalwaste of time because we are participating in the kingdom of God… it is a royal waste of timebecause we have to die to ourselvesand our egos, our purposes and accomplishments to live now in God's kingdom. As Matthew 10:39 reminds us, only in losing our life—wasting our time—do we find it.” ~ Marva Dawn

♫JUNIOR CHOIR INTROIT: Go, Tell It On The Mountain
LIGHTING THE ADVENT CANDLE:(John, Melissa, Samantha and Josh)
What if it’s true? What if Jesus invites us into a world transformed?
Then we have much to be sad and sorry for, because we’ve long refused the love into which we are born, the love by which we are surrounded.
What if it’s true? What if Jesus invites us into a new way of living?
Then we have much to sing about, because we can respond to the love made known in Jesus!
We light a candle of hope—because Jesus is all around, working in us and through us.
We light a candle of peace—because we dedicate ourselves to the work of peace.
We light a candle of joy—because laughter and celebration are at the heart of our faith.
We light a candle of love—because the reality of divine love changes how we live!
♪ SUNG RESPONSE: (Tune: "Greensleeves" VU 74)
What if it’s true, what if it’s so,
The story to us confided?
We find true love, forgiveness too,
And through it our lives are guided. (repeat)
WE LISTEN FOR GOD’S STORY
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 126: 1-3
When God brought home those who had been captives, it seemed to us like a dream.
Our mouths were full of laughter, And our tongues uttered shouts of joy.
Then they said among the nations, “God has done great things for them.”
Truly God has done great things for us, and therefore we rejoice.

This time of year we all receive numerous solicitations to help fund worthy projects. For as long as our "old timers" can remember Trinity has offered another opportunity for your consideration through our Advent Offering. This is a once a year project that will go on for four weeks only. Our two projects this year will be:
- SLEEPING CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD (SCAW) was started by Murray Dryden, the father of the hockey Drydens, in an attempt to help children in third world countries get a decent sleep at night Each bed kit contains a mattress, blankets, ground sheet, clothing
and personal items. The estate of Murray Dryden covers all administrative expenses so 100% of your gift gets to
the children. This has been one of our projects each year over the last 20 years. Your donations last December supplied 35 children in the Philippines with bed kits. The posters in the narthex and the Sunday School room have pictures of the children supported.
- PACKSAC SMILES is a local initiative started in August 2005 by Darlene Tripp and our own Sandra Rozicki. Packsacs full of clothing, school supplies and personal items are given to needy children before school starts so that they can start with the supplies their classmates start
the school year with. In 2005, 13 packsacs were delivered. In 2012 they delivered 217 at an average cost
of $130 each. Your 2013 donations bought 15 packsacks. Because all the work is done by volunteers, all of your donation goes to the work of the project.
We use PILL BOTTLE BANKS to collect for Advent. We suggest you place it on your meal table and each day put a coin in it at grace time. Explain to your children what it is for.
Before the end of the year bring in your offerings. If your pill bottle is too small, dump out the coin replace it with the value in larger currency and use the other coins again. Cheques and folding money also fit nicely in the banks. Be sure to take one home today. The ushers will be pleased to give you one.
