TITLE OF EVENT
2016 EliteVictorian Boxing Championships
CLOSING DATE
Nominations close on the 8 October 2016 at 5pm
AWARDING OF THE VICTORIAN TITLE
In order to be awarded the Victorian Title for 2016, boxers must have competed in at least one bout at the championships.
Where a boxer, at the official draw, has at least one opponent but, during the preceding time between the draw and start of competition at the championships, he is left with no opponent and the weight division one up or one down is left in the same position,whether as a result of the withdrawal of boxers or a failure to make weight by an opponent, then where possible, both boxers will be matched for the Victorian Championship in the heavier weight division. Both boxers must however, weigh in within the designated weight band.
In all other circumstances where a boxer fails to make the weight he/she will lose on a walk over. Also, where the 2015 Champion nominates in the same weight division as in 2015 but has no opponent he/she will be awarded the Victorian title.
CHAMPIONSHIP PERIOD
15, 16 and 23 October 2016, dates later in the year will be added if necessary.

As this is NOT a selection event, there will be no challenge matches

General Weigh in & Medical
In line with new AIBA and Boxing Australia policy, there will not be a general weigh in and medical. Boxers will only be required to weigh in and attend a medical on the day they are competing. Any boxer who fails to weigh in within their nominated weight category will be eliminated and their opponent will win by walk over
OFFICIAL DRAW
The Official Draw will take place at Caulfield Park Bowls Club, 285A Balaclava Road, Caulfield at 9 am on the 9 October 2016. There is no compulsion for coaches and boxers to attend but it is open to any interested boxer, coach or official. It will be independently overseen by the President of Boxing Australia Limited, Mr Ted Tanner. Results will be posted on the web site and BVI Facebook page.
BOXING EQUIPMENT
All Elite Male and Elite Femalebouts will be conducted with gloves supplied.
All Elite Female bouts will be conducted wearing head guards. All Elite Male bouts will be conducted without head guards. The above is in accordance with Boxing Australia’s Technical and Competition Regulations.
Boxing Victoria will provide its licensed boxing gloves and head guards, where required, to all boxers for all bouts in the Victorian Championships. Boxers may wear their own head guard as long as it is AIBA approved and licensed. For 2016 AIBA approved and licensed equipment suppliers are Adidas, Sting, Taishan Sports, Top Ten, and Wesing Sports
SCORING SYSTEM
The AIBA Scoring System will be used
REFEREES AND JUDGES
All Referees & Judges will be selected and appointed by Boxing Victoria Incorporated
DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
All Boxers must submit the following prior to the weigh in:
- Signed Boxer Declaration Form (for every boxer)
- Signed Anti-Doping Declaration Form (for every boxer)
- Proof of Australian Citizenship (boxers who have previously competed for Victoria and have therefore previously proved their nationality are exempt)
- For female boxers a signed non pregnancy declaration
All boxers must bring to the General Weigh-In of the Victorian Championships;
- His or her Boxer Competition Record Book with:
(a)their Annual Medical Examination marked:
(i)as undertaken
(ii)with the assessment he or she is ‘Fit to Box’ and
(iii)dated
(b)Medical Examination assessments undertaken following any rest periods after a head injury marked as ‘Fit’
DRESS OF BOXERS
Boxers must wear a singlet, gloves and, if applicable, a head guard with a colour that corresponds to the corner they are boxing out of.
MOUTHGUARDS
No boxer shall be permitted to wear a red or reddish coloured mouthguard.
DRINK IN THE FIELD OF PLAY
Only plain water in a clear bottle is allowed in the field of play and within the corners of all bouts.
COACHES ACCREDITATION
Only BVI registered coaches will be allowed to enter the Field of Play.
DRESS OF COACHES
No coaches shall be allowed to be in the corner if they are not appropriately dressed. Inappropriate dress is deemed to include bare feet, sandals or thongs, singlets and offensive t-shirts. At the Australian Championships coaches and assistant coaches shall wear state/territory tracksuit or state/territory shirt and shorts.
BEHAVIOUR STANDARDS
As within Clause 5.85 of BAL’s Technical & Competition Rules (p.64) ‘No boxer, coach, referee, judge, tournament official or Member Association shall demonstrate during Australian Boxing Championships or National Selection Events for whatever reason. If a demonstration occurs, the boxer, coach or Member Association concerned shall be excluded by the Supervisor from competing in the event and/or from remaining in the venue from the time of the demonstration and any further administration action or penalty determined by the Committee of Boxing Victoria.
COACHING FROM THE CORNER
Each Boxer is entitled to one coach and two assistant coaches in their corner. Only one coach and one assistant coach of a competing boxer can mount the apron of the ring, the third must remain at floor level. Only one coach may enter the ring during the break period between rounds of the bout. The coach or assistant coaches shall not enter the ring before the start or at the conclusion of a contest, however, two may mount the apron of the ring before the contest.
A coach is not permitted to shout loud or to clap the boxer and/or referee to encourage or incite spectators by words or signs during the progress of a round. A coach is not permitted to throw any item into the ring to demonstrate a disagreement or to kick any chair or water bottle or to take any action that may be deemed as unsportsmanlike behaviour.
No coach is to use any communication device in the Field of Play. This included such items but not limited to mobile telephones, walkie-talkies, smart phones, headsets, shortwave radios etc.
If a coach is found in breach of any prohibited activity, they will receive a caution for the 1st violation. If a coach breaches a 2nd violation then they shall receive a warning and be placed just outside the Field of Play area, but remain in the Competition Venue. If there is a 3rd violation, then the coach shall be removed by the Supervisor for duration of the tournament.
